So is it time for the San Antonio Spurs front office to break the team up?

maybe, but I thought they were going to break it up 2-3 years ago and they proved me wrong by almost winning the championship this year.

I don't think so, not until Duncan is ready to call it quits....they just need a better bench IMO....Leonard was a revelation, very impressed with his play, Parker & Duncan played great, Ginobli is looking worn down and guys like Green or Neal are decent role players but were exposed when asked to trn create under pressure against MIA....I think if SA had 1 more scorer then this series would have had a different outcome......

Only if they are sending us Duncan for draft picks. ;) (putting down pipe now)

Teamed with Aldridge he wouldn't be asked to do so much. He's got a lot of good ball left in him.

On second thought, Stotts has shown he isn't wise enough to limit Duncan's minutes the way Pop did.

I thought Duncan said it was his last year? I don't know for sure, just thought I read it in here.

Eric was eluding to it in different threads but duncan never said it was his last year or that he was thinking of retiring.

I think Duncan will retire. There was also a report that Manu has considered retirement. They would still have a solid core with Parker and Leonard if they both retired and cap $ to easily lure some new studs.

They should definitely bring em all back for another run. They finished "THIS" close to a Championship.

Of course it's time to blow them up. Anytime you go to game 7 of the finals and lose you start tearing it down for draft picks.

I agree. I'm not a fan of the spurs; but if it were the blazers; I would say keep going.

Really, it's only Ginobli who has declined to the point of not being that "difference maker" any more. We saw that Duncan still has it. Parker obviously has it. Leonard is just coming up. If they make one move to replace what Ginobli once offered them then they're still a viable team - heck, even with Ginobli's shadow they were still a possession or two away from a championship.

Duncan will be back. He's already announced it.

Dwight Howard would extend Duncan's career by 3 years, and they have the cap room (and income tax-friendliness) to sign him. Yes, I know he's not a perfect fit for their culture. Still, it would be interesting.

Damn. That would be great for Duncan's career, and it'd be great for Howard to see what a real hard hat winning environment is like.

I also don't think the front office will "break it up" - unless you consider not re-signing Ginobili part of that. The only tradeable pieces are Parker, Leonard. Ageing team should just keep going until dead and buried.

Man, that would be fun to see Pop kick Howard's ass into being the player he ought to be.
