Just passing it along, dont know how reliable it is. Rumor Press @NBARumorPress Told Bulls "aren't thrilled" with their draft position--still trying to move up. Talked with Kings about the #7 pick, acc. to a source. Unclear what would go in return. Bulls have talked to a number of teams in the lottery, in efforts to move up.
Cavs interested in Deng Rumor: Cleveland Cavs still have interest in trading for Luol Deng and [it sounds like the Bulls are asking for the #1 Pick back in return]. League Source: 3 veterans who are candidates to be in deals leading up to, or during NBA draft are the Bulls' Luol Deng, Pacers' Danny Granger and Blazers' Lamarcus Aldridge. The Cavs apparently have interest in Deng and he certainly would be a terrific role model and leader-by-example for a young squad; the Cavs also have a gaping hole at that position and if they have interest in vying for a playoff spot next season, a rookie out of this draft isn't going to move them appreciably closer. That said, there is skepticism that the Cavs are actually serious about parting with the No. 1 pick because they keep asking for assets as if it were the first pick in next year's draft Source: Ric Bucher
Deng for a draft pick. Who'd have thunk it. Ideal because it gets the Bulls really close to the salary cap, well below the LT threshold. Who'd have thunk it. I suggested we trade him for Tyreke Evans and Jaon Thompson. The #1 pick, and drafting Oladipo or McLemore is cheaper, and we get to take a flyer on a top athlete at the position we'd play Evans. That would leave us the full MLE and/or the Korver TPE to use to pick up a backup C making ... the same as Asik's salary for next season.
If the Bulls get the first pick for Luol Deng I'd shit myself. I mean, you add up all of the Bulls assets: Deng, This years pick, 2015 first round pick, 2017 first round pick, Bobcats pick -- that's still not enough, right? I don't think that would be a particularly good deal for the Bulls either. It feels like things can get really dark when you don't have a first round pick for a season.
I assume it'd be Deng and our #1 for the #1. I'm not following you, SST. We don't have 1st round picks otherwise?
Sources: Deng for No. 3 pick explored The first decent NBA Draft trade rumble of the week involves an All-Star who's no stranger to the speculation game. Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that the Chicago Bulls, in their latest attempt to gauge the trade value of All-Star swingman Luol Deng, have had exploratory discussions with Washington about a deal that would land Deng with the Wizards and bring the No. 3 pick in Thursday's draft to the Bulls. The most likely trade construction, if talks were to progress to the serious stage, would send Deng to the Wizards for the No. 3 pick and center Emeka Okafor, who would have to formally opt into his contract for next season ($14.5 million) this week for the trade to go through. Yet it's worth noting that Cleveland, sources say, has interest in Deng as well ... and there will surely be other potential trade partners to surface if the Bulls decide they're legitimately ready to part with Deng after years of flirting with the idea. That means, we move Butler to SF, and try and get a good SG Does it also mean we amnesty boozer or trade him?
I am fine with trading Deng for a high draft pick in principle. Either McLemore or Oladipo are good fits on this team and it gives the team greater flexibility and a good win now/win later framework to build on. It also allows the team to faze out Boozer and fade in Mirotic without any additional cap wrangling. Deng's been with the team for 9 years, has made about 80 million dollars and appeared in two all star games with the Bulls. It's been a great run, and he's one of my favorite players ever. But staying with a team throughout the course of your career is usually something only superstars can afford to do, and Deng's not a superstar. The 2014 plan always seemed like a choice between retaining Deng and staying the course or losing Deng anyway. Losing Deng for a very high draft pick seems like a very good compromise to me. I'm not sure about bringing back Emeka Okafor and what that would mean for the rest of the roster, but I don't dismiss Deng for pick talks merely on the basis of finances.
I like the Wizards trade, imo. Dont know if Ekafor is really in the trade or not. Could be Steins guess. Could be going after Oladipo. Wow.

The Wizard trade don't look to be bad. I'm not sure about Okafor. 14.4 mill $ for a backup C is unlikely.
KCJHoop Can't see Wizards giving up No. 3 and Okafor for Deng, as reported by @ESPNSteinLine, unless Deng says he'll resign. Which I also don't see.
Kinda OT Cavaliers, Celtics Discuss Paul Pierce Trade http://sportstwo.com/threads/239296...scuss-Paul-Pierce-Trade?p=3037697#post3037697 so, Cavs looking for vet SF.
What I was saying is that a deal for the number 1 pick in the draft would probably take three or four first round picks; and that years when your team doesn't have a first round pick kinda' suck.
Deng is an all-star. I don't think it's going to take more than Deng plus our first. Maybe we throw in a 2nd... Who are they going to draft that's sure to be as good as Deng?
If they trade $14M+ in cap space for a draft pick, they don't need to amnesty boozer. It's $14m out, $0 in (well, whatever the pick gets for salary). The Sacto deal for Evans and Thompson is $14M out, $14M in.
Well it depends. If Deng doesn't agree to signing an extension basically every player on the board, right? Deng is only under contract for the 13-14 season.
That is why the Bulls beat writers are saying this won't happen. He wont agree to an extension with Washington. Their reasoning is why rent Deng for one season.
