Re: Should the NBA shorten it's schedule? Yeah, if the NBA had single game elimination in the playoffs, it would be sh*t. Ratings would be awful like treykia said. ALSO, they should keep the schedule as it is. They have a perfect format right now as it is IMO.
Re: Should the NBA shorten it's schedule? I have a question. What does IMO mean. I see it everywhere but I dont understand it.
Re: Should the NBA shorten it's schedule? I don't want more than one playoff series being a best-of-five... the whole reason they changed it froma best-of-five to a best-of-seven (aside from the monetary gain) was because it is much easier for a team to get lucky and win a best-of-five series than get lucky and win a best-of-seven. A best-of-seven assures that the BETTER team wins MOST of the time.
Re: Should the NBA shorten it's schedule? thanks bigmo... but to add its also about business $$$ ppl pay good money for these playoff games

Seriously, I wouldn't want, say, the Kings upsetting the Spurs last year and facing the Mavs. Can you imagine the great games (highly-rated, might I add) that would be missed?

Players get tired, ok, they will get tired playing 12 less games too. Plus like people said, the money is a huge factor. 12 less games = less money. The players can handle it, and people would still get hurt playing 70 games. If the players can't handle it, they should re-think their profession. If a guy like Robert Traylor put up with the league's schedule I'm pretty sure these other athletes can do it as well, and that's been proven. As for the first round of the playoffs, I think 5 games is what it should be back to. Have the setup looking like 5-7-7-7. A lot of the first round matchups are one-sided a lot of the time. Get the 1st round out of the way quicker, but 7 games for the rest of the playoffs.
Re: Should the NBA shorten it's schedule? If they did shortern the schedule, what happens when a boring offseason like the one were currently in is extended? I know alot of people would be unhappy.
