Here is my reasoning...Jameer Nelson contributes to the team averaging more minutes per game than Devin Harris and he's one of the main options in his roster while Harris plays behind Nowitzki,Howard,Terry,Stackhouse, and will now have to share time with Anthony Johnson. You're going to tell me Jameer is fast? Devin Harris is much more faster and is more explosive than any guard out of his draft class. He averaged ten points per game in twenty minutes of playing time and not that many shot oppurtunities while Nelson averaged fourteen points per game in thirty minutes per game. If Nelson was on the Mavericks he would be in the same situation and would average less points per game because he would have too many stars around him and he's the leader in Orlando while Harris is the fifth option in Dallas. Harris has much more potential and will be a great player down the line while Jameer Nelson will always be that border line all-star.
Do you honestly think that Jameer Nelson would start ahead of Jason Terry at this point of their careers? Hell no. Would Devin Harris start in Orlando. Hell Yeah.Devin is a great slasher. We saw that in the playoffs, but he also plays good D, and he is a pretty good shooter and initiator as well. But, you know, Ive got to go with jameer. He is a great shooter, very quick, and a good passer too.
Jameer Nelson, player of the year in college as a senior. Not even Okafor won that award. But Jameer Nelson won it at St.Josephs.
I'd take Devin Harris. Definitely more upside with his speed and is a little bigger than Jameer Nelson. If Harris got starters minutes than he could have a great year like Jameer had.
Devin Harris for me. He may be behind Jason Terry but that only gives him a chance to learn from a great veteran! He is Super fast and has a real impact in the playoff for the Mavs. He now has finals experience, which counts for a lot and that will make him a better player immediatley!
