That's not a bad idea, but even with a lesser MLE and a Euroleague contract, will he make $10 mill over the next four seasons, if he can even play that long? Even the highest paid Euroleaguers tend to cap out at around 2-3 mill.

Leaving $10 mill on the table in his situation is just bizarre...

I dunno, thought I read somewhere he donated his most recent CSKA check to charity, so am guessing it isn't all just about money for him.

I really like the thought of Splitter, how much do you guys think he'll go for. I know he's a little older, but he's a much better pick n roll player than Pekovic or Asik (who I think would be tough to get). I think we need a good pick n roll guy for Damian, he doesn't have anyone to play that role now, just a bunch of pick n pop guys. And I love Splitter's passing game.

Do you think we could possibly get Splitter for 7 or 8 million? San Antonio doesn't usually like to spend big $$$.

Could we then get Thomas Robinson? He seems like he'd play well w/Splitter in the high post and he's tough inside. Not sure he'd fit w/Aldridge any better than Hickson did, but it'd be nice to have a little raw athleticism in the second unit.

Any thoughts on Kirilenko or Millsap? I know we need a center more but I love those extremely active players who are consumate team guys.

Any predictions on where Webster ends up? I would really like him in a backup 2/3 role here if we could get him consistent minutes. I think he'd do much better under Stotts than he ever did under McMillan.

Anyone think that Andre Miller might be a nice fit for next year playing alongside McCollum or Dame for 20 mpg? We need some PG skills while the two of them are still learning the ropes. He could "guard" 2's while playing with them, and everyone else on our team seems to be shooters so he wouldn't be as limited as in Denver this last year. Denver seems to be going young, not sure he makes a lot of sense there anymore.

I expect the Blazers to make an offer within 72 hours of Free Agency.

I kinda feel the same way. I would hate to have no defense by a slower stiff with zero lateral quickness.

Not sure, but if I had to guess i think Splitter makes sense, or perhaps Pekovic or Bynum.

Bynum? No way the Blazers go after an injured center.

Personally, I think Splitter makes the most sense. He played next o Duncan and I think that translates well to playing with Aldridge. He is a quality defender with a drtg last season of 100. His PER was 18.7 last season. He is 28 and comfortable being a 5th option. And I don't think the Spurs are a team that will match an overpriced offer.

I think you are right, but the Blazers need to find a center solution that excites LMA, I think Bynum might. High risk, high reward.

There is zero chance we go for Bynum. Olshey may fool you with his looks, but no one could be so stupid as to be Bynum's 3rd sucker team.

Its either Pek or Splitter imo. I think it will come down to Splitter because I have a feeling someone is going to come out with a giant contract offer for Pek that is bigger then what we could offer him. Splitter we will have to overpay to get the spurs to not match and i'm fine with a Splitter at 7-8 a year but I have a feeling it will have to be at around 10m a year for the spurs to let him go which is much to high for him. I can say i'd rather have splitter at 10m a year then McGee/Jordan at the same amount.

Splitter lost money in the playoffs.

    He was atrocious!

    Buy low! (Splitter)

His pick n roll game would do wonders for Lillard.

Re: [Free agency] 24 hrs away!

Just stay away from Tony Allen, and ya'll are cool in my book...

For some reason, Grizz management seems reluctant to offer the best defender in the league a relatively measly $6 mill...

If ya'll jump on TA for that price, I might just have to become a Blazers fan instead.

BTW - How bullshit is it that a guy like Monta Ellis, who is nothing but a pure scorer, can command near-MAX money, yet the league's best lockdown defender, in his prime, is having trouble getting $6 mill? That really speaks to the state of the game...

    Pg - Lillard
    SG - McCollum/Allen

    I'd love this rotation.

Re: [Free agency] 24 hrs away!

    That'd be what's up...

Learning from our Mayo years, it'd probably work best like this -

    PG - Lillard/McCollum
    SG - Allen/McCollum/Barton

Let Lillard focus on the offense while Allen locks down the other team's best player defensively... then when both teams go to the bench, you'd have McCollum/Barton with another scoring punch that your opponent can't match off the bench.

Can't believe we're selling such a valuable defensive player so short...

I'd love to offer Pek a big contract just to stick it to Minny, but Pek is not much of an upgrade over Hickson overall. I'd rather keep Hickson and also try to add a nice roleplayer like Tony Allen.

I like the potential of a Lillard/McCollum backcourt for the fact that they both play really well off the ball and can shoot. I really liked what I saw from Lilard last year playing with Maynor.

Allen would bring something we didnt have off the bench last year: defense and talent.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

while I understand what he's saying, there's going to be a LOT of teams with cap space that don't get Tier One (or Two, or Three) guys. Andre Miller got paid 2M more a year by us in FA then he would've otherwise (MLE), because we struck out. A lot of the RFAs that are close to worth it are going to be matched by their old teams. Ones that have no cap space are still trying to be players through S&T's (like GSW).
