The Blazers drafted Withey this year, and Leonard last year. I think they see Leonard as a viable starting C once he gets comfortable. He seems to work hard, at least.
Why is that? There may just be the best they can do. I don't buy that this says anything about Leonard at all, other then that the Blazers can't rely on their lottery pick to be a starter.
The fact that they aren't moving Leonard for a better center says a lot. Besides, why are people acting like this is a done deal? Free agency hasn't even started yet. Stop freaking out.
The writing has been on the wall for a while that this was going to be the type of short turn fix we could expect. We have exhausted every scenario possible and none of them except Asik seemed do-able. My expectations for a center have been lowered for a while. I am fine with Kaman for now. Center by committee.....
It takes two to make that deal happen All I see is they know Leonard isn't ready to start, thus the reason the Blazers have a hole at center.
How do we know this is to start for us? Maybe the goal is to trade meyers and have kaman coming off the bench? Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I'm all for trading Meyers. A center that doesn't rebound, block shots or play defense Can you even call him a center at that point?
I think a lot of people are going to be dissapointed. With the FA targets we've been hearing I'm guessing Olshey is going after two medium level players rather than one high level player. After absorbing Thomas Robinson's salary, they only have around $9 million to play with. Do you even think someone like Tyreke Evans or Pekovic is going to take 9M/Year? Yeah, didn't think so.
He rebounded poorly for a center His defense was atrocious He didn't alter shots These are all facts. Sorry.
What route would you like? Trade a couple second rounders and Leonard for Asik? It's not happening. This is reality. People need to come to accept it. The options are all mediocre-bad.
I love people who give up on rookie PROJECTS after one season. He was drafted as a project, pretty much everyone looked at him as a 2 to 3 year project before the draft and he showed a lot of good things but a lot of bad things to. He is the definition of a project and giving up on him after 1 season is quiet stupid.
Yep. This is the reality. The alternative is trading Aldridge or the few other assets we have. We are in asset acquisition mode, still. So, if we sign a Kaman or Paculioil, does that mean we are punting trying to get a decent center until the 2014 free agency? Are we going to have any $$ to spend in 2014?
