Do we need a backup PF? LMA plays 38 minutes a game and even if that goes down 4 mins on average you have Claver playing the stretch 4 position. Seems we have bigger needs (Center and I still think backup PG). I like the guy if he is around later in free agency though. Doubt he will be. EDIT: We just got TRob to be our backup PF.
It's sometimes amusing to see what you write about how to construct a team for it to be a winner, and then see the suggestions you make of who to acquire.
I'm just not that big of a fan of the way Speights plays. For a guy with his size, he shies away from contact too much and takes too many mid-range jumpers (although, he does have a pretty consistent stroke). He also gets lost on defense more than most big men I've seen come through Memphis. He's "productive," I guess, but at a certain point, with the numbers aside, you just have to ask yourself what style of player you want logging minutes on your team, and unless it's a spotty defender that doesn't play to his size offensively, I'd look elsewhere.
