Kaman (or O'Neal) and Maynor has been my guess. I am just not seeing that space eater/ aggressive rebounder that LMA wanted, out there. That combo is hard to find with out spending max money.
I didn't like Meyers to begin with, so no, I'm not really giving up on him as I was never a big fan of his. He's soft and it shows. Not a fan and never will be.
I'm not going to freak out until we actually start seeing some numbers. If Kaman could be had for 5 million, that's fine with me.
If Kaman is our main free agent acquisition I think its important to get him on a deal with only one guaranteed year. Perhaps a 3 years $25mil deal with the last two years 0% guaranteed. Yes his salary would be $8 million all of our cap space but he would then be a valuable expiring contract during the year if a trade opportunity presents itself. We would still have the $2.5mil room exception for a value priced free agent.
I honestly don't think Olshey views it that way. I don't think Olshey views Aldridge as the centerpiece of a championship team, and would probably not hesitate to deal him IF the right deal came along (which it obviously hasn't). I think Olshey is just looking to gather assets. You can dislike guys like Pachulia and Kaman all you want, but it does not change the fact that if they sign, we essentially get an asset for free. Given the names that have been rumored, I seriously doubt that any contract they sign will be unmovable. They are short term guys that can not only play, but provide flexibility in trades/asset acquisition in the future. If they work out, great. If not, you didn't really lose anything by signing them, and they'll be off your cap in one or two years. No big deal.
He is hardly the only one here who believes Lynyrd's future (if any) is at PF. Right now, he is a poor man's Kelly Olynyk.....without the shooting touch.
Right now he's a 7-1 SF He's soft. Always has been soft. Always gonna be soft. The sooner people realize that the better
An 80% free throw shooting 7 footer has no shooting touch? Give me some of that grass that you're smoking.
He's something. Whether he leads us to the promise land or not (lol) is irrelevant. He's an asset that can be moved later if necessary.
Unless you believe the team was in no position to take on a high risk/low reward "project" in the first place!
on the enthusiastic meter I'd put attaining Kaman a notch or two below Meh. Not the direction I'd hope to see them go STOMP
Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel as well. I wasn't expecting Dwight Howard, but Kaman is just so.......
I'm not exactly sure what people ARE expecting. Could someone come up with a plausible scenario they would actually like?
This is a misinformed take, IMO. Leonard shot 55% from the field last year, 81% from FT, and even 43% from three. Plus, he's two years YOUNGER than Olynyk.
