I agree as well with this. As much as I like McCollum, how many minutes did he play PG a game in college? Our 2nd string PG needs to be a true PG, because if Lillard goes down for even 5-10 games with a simple ankle sprain , it would be disastrous without another PG on the roster.

This was my second thought when I heard of the trade.

Late to the party after driving for the past twelve hours.

Seems like a nice solid "upside" trade by Olshey. Maybe the guy never amounts to shit, but he's going to have a decent opportunity to show what he can do in a backup role and I thought he was one helluva player at Kansas. I know some of you are a little bummed that we got rid of the greeks, but you could maybe sort of read between the lines that Portland was going to be a tough sell to get them to come over with Nicolas pretty firmly entrenched as the starting 3 just because of his contract.

I don't think anyone is really sad we had to give up the greeks.

Who cares? We got an immense talent for nothing.

Potential. I like the move. But I'd say "potential" at this point. He's proven nothing.

I like this deal a lot. I think the kid has a lot of potential, and I think he just needs a chance. He'll be fine coming off the bench behind Aldridge, and I like him a hell of a lot more than Freeland, who can't seem to make a layup.

Thomas Robinson was the fifth pick in last year's draft.

Where would Robinson have gone in this year's draft?

And we got him for imaginary euros and future second-rounders.

    Nice.

    Repped.

Yeah, I wanted us to draft him so bad last year, and now we have him to go with Lillard. I think this will pay off in the long run.

Hickson wasn't good enough for Sacramento and he exploded for us.

    Here are my scenarios:

If LA stays, then we can reduce his minutes and conserve him a bit. Also, what Robinson needs (a pick and pop game), LA does better almost better than any PF in the game. You don't think he'll pick something up from Aldridge?

If LA gets injured, then we have a quality backup PF (per 36 last year were 11 pts and 11 rbs)

If LA gets traded, then we can tank and develop Robinson along with Lillard and McCollum.

2nd rounders are a dime a dozen. We'll use PA's money to buy some if we like a player that low. And the euros? I used to love our stable, but we've had too many disappointments for me to believe in those players. For every one that makes it, three or four fail and bail back to Europe.

This is a fantastic deal. If he doesn't pan out, we haven't given up much. If he lives up to his potential, we have a fantastic PF and are actually in the position of being able to trade LA without much of a dropoff.

It's a win-win-win. Houston had to clear cap space, and Robinson was a major chit to do it. We're taking a flier. I love it.

I'm hoping for a Hickson type resurgence with him after escaping Sactown.

I really hope Robinson plays Summer League with Leonard/McCollum/Barton/Freeland/Claver. He should start at PF for that team and let him do his thing.

    What about Crabbe and Withey?

I can't imagine him not playing in SL. If he blows it in PDX, he's done.
