What if olshey and Grover have this mutual agreement that if Houston gets Howard; we get asik. But if Houston loses out on Howard; then we trade Aldridge for asik and draft picks? It would send us to rebuild mode and way more cap space; plus I know we will suck next season for the wiggins sweepstakes.
It's definitely on the right track. Question... How many championship teams won the #1 pick and that team went to the finals in the last 20 years? Orlando with shaq Magic with lakers Houston with rockets Howard with Orlando LBJ with Cleveland AI with Philly Duncan with sas Ewing with New York David Robinson with sas Boo yah!
Trading Aldridge for value such as Asik doesn't make the Blazers bad enough for it to be worth it. The Blazers need to either go all-in on building a contender with Aldridge, or else, go all-in on the tank by trading Aldridge for only projects, picks, short-term refuse, and cap space. There are probably six other teams who are likely to out-lose us next season even if we do try to tank. I think it's going to be difficult to trade Aldridge for only future assets and not take back a player who is going to help win us out of a top 5 pick.
I just want better shots at the lotto; and asik is a good pick up. We could go even more in by trading more assets for more pick options I guess. Btw; I'm not for this since Aldridge is my favorite player. Just adding another angle/
I don't want to gut the team of its other assets. If we can trade Aldridge for a few more current and future Thomas Robinsons, it won't hurt our loss total too much in the short term. Otherwise, we're stuck trying to win games. Pity.
Lol when you posted that I was like "oh great my ADHD kicked in and I didn't pay attention to what I wrote"
My understanding from the talk radio Los Angeles, is Houston is meeting with Josh Smith right now in LA. (They met earlier with Dwight) They want him whether they get Howard or not. Asik seems destined for the ATL.
I'm holding out hope that we can get in on that and divert Asik to us by giving up Leonard and something. It seems like Atlanta is about to rebuild so they may be up to moving Asik if they get him.
I like the way Ben over at Blazer's Edge tweets that "LMA told a reporter he wants out", but when you actually read the article it was from the exit interviews. Social Media at its finest: http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sp...s-aldridge-kyle-wiltjer-travis-green-and-more
I'm not a Golliver fan, but you're kind of right and kind of wrong. Great picture at the top of the article, but where is half of the champ team?
