Is there a waiver process for guys that get bought out? Or can a team, like let's say the Blazers, sign him immediately after.

If there is a way to get a free asset, Olshey will find it. LOL

Neil probably flashes his AARP card at McDonalds.

Done. We can snatch him before he actually clears waivers and take on the 5.1M contract
    None of these apply

And as we learned last year, the space isn't off your cap until a) someone's claim is approved or b) the 48 hours are up.

Why would they buy him out? Why not just dump him on us?

If they buy him out wouldnt you think we didn't really want him?

I don't think it's a buyout situation. If they put him on waivers and he clears, NOP owes him 500k guaranteed salary, which stays on their books. If someone claims him, then the 500k doesn't go on their books.

A trade also preserves his bird rights. Would like him better if his rebound rate was higher, but have no problem if this is the best we can do at center.

How about someone to play with Cousins since Lopez is not going to demand the ball much and on an affordable short term contract?

So like Cousins moving to PF and Lopez being the defensive stopper? That could work.

If Pelicans don't waive Robin Lopez by Thursday -- paying 500K buyout -- his $5.1M and 5.3M salaries the next two years become guaranteed.

How would you guys feel if we picked up Lopez, then wait until the Houston deal comes through. If it does; then use Leonard + Matthews to land asik?

I know it makes us a little thin at SG; but I think we maybe CJ, Barton and crabbes can work by committee

I wonder if this put a wrinkle in the wait on Asik plans in regards to making a move on Lopez?

Asik and Lopez would be "fine," not great, not game-changing and not enough to convince LaMarcus to stick it out ... but "fine."
