Why even both responding if you're not going to address the substance of the message?

He's 21 years old. I expect him to make strides in learning the game and honing his skills and to get closer to a starting-level center.

I don't know how people expected more than we got from him last year.

If you don't understand that using that type of language in such a way makes it appear that you are a Meyers hater, then let this be a time to make a realization. Zags jump was completely understandable. No, you did not say specifically that you thought Meyers was doomed to failure, but they way you posted made it sound like that was the point of your post. Glad to know that your actual stance is much more reasonable than it appeared at first.

I do not like nor dislike Meyers. The jury is still out on him. He is a project that will take time - if he can get a fucking clue (which I hope) how to play the position (center) then he'll be ok.

Wasn't this the point - by the end of next season what do you expect. My answer: I hope he gets a fucking clue how to play the position.

That does not equal I hate him. Its my hope for him.

    He's a project center.

    By the time he's 25 he could be a decently skilled 7'1" 270 lb-er.

    1. rebounding positioning - he sucked at it last yr
    2. No the system better so he's not lost all the time on D
    3. better lower body strength so he's not pushed around so easily

he should be able to improve at least decently in these areas, if he can't then the "bus": odds increase a good bit.

It's a little different of a situation, but the sister of a friend was 4'10" and one hell of a ballet dancer, looking towards a career in the field. Then, over 10 months when she was 16 she grew 11 inches to 5'9". She could hardly walk without falling, let alone dance in her new awkward body. She stopped growing and a couple years later got it together, figured out how to control her moves and ended up a pro dancer in some show down in Vegas. Meyers still moves like he does not know his size or strength. Hopefully he figures it out.

I expect him to look slightly less lost on defense, poster-block maybe a dozen shots, posterize a couple dozen different players with monster dunks, get posterized about twice that many times, and have some sort of inkling on how to bang down low. Any inkling would be an improvement, he was willing and physically able to bang, but he had no idea how...

    An excellent recap of Meyers.

He strikes me as a player that does better with extended minutes. Like he has to find his comfort zone on the floor. I have high hopes for him.

You didn't even quote me, you quoted Lincoln. The sum of it was schoolgirl tough guy talk about calling Meyers a pussy to his face. I'd expect better.

I think it's mostly up to Leonard's aptitude for learning and drive to get better ... so in other words I have no idea what to expect. He has great raw physical attributes, but no idea how to apply them in the context of an NBA game. The best thing I can say is that's probably a better place to be than undersized and unathletic, but skilled.

among the 44 centers that played at least 10mpg:

    3rd youngest

    25th in mpg (17.5)

    40th in dtrg (110)

    4th in otrg (115)

    27th in PER (12.1)

    24th in ws/48 (.097)

    4th in ft% (.809)

    12th in fg% (.545)

    31st in usg (13.1)

    34th in blk% (2.4)

    7th in ts% (.596)

    41st in reb% (12.3)

basically, one of the best on offense, one of the worst on defense
