Lopez another good value asset "gathered" at 10 mil next 2 years, Splitter is not that much better at he just got 9 mil per, get him and we can still sign another player. This FA crop is weak and I am very happy we are not overpaying here

I don't get why people are down on Lopez. What other realistic options does Portland have? I'd rather pay a $5MM to Lopez and have to give up something small in trade than pay D. Jordan his $10-11MM and give up a bunch of players. Lopez had a solid season last year.

I'm thinking less about appeasing Aldridge and thinking more about the bottom line in terms of contender status.

please explain what you are expecting thats reasonable? seriously.... theres a short FA list and most of them are underwhelming theres no way dwight is coming out this way so what the fuck are you expecting? some kinda trade for KD or some shit? i think Lopez is a decent pick up if asik isn't available. if i really had to list them in order id probably do Asik > lopez > dalembert

The Pels may not have to move Lopez:

It is possible Tyreke Evans never signs the proposed $44M offer sheet with Pelicans, sources tell Y! Sports. Still a fluid scenario.

Lopez comes cheap. Get him. Center by committee is our best option. We need three of them. Most (not all) end up hurt so why pay a lot for them. There are not that many good ones any more. So just get the best you can.

Centers are becoming more like offensive lineman these days. You need them to succeed, but really all they are just good for is the dirty work. They have little skills and they are not going to score much. Just make sure you have enough good ones to last the season. Lopez would be a good addition.

I am embellishing a little here, but I am not that far off.

With so much trade interest in center Robin Lopez, it is unlikely the Pelicans will fail to guarantee his contract this week.

lopez grabs defensive boards at a worse rate than leonard, with an identical drtg, no thanks

meyers put up a dreb% of 17.1% last year, same as javalle mcgee

robin lopez put up a 13.4%, dead last in the nba among centers who played at least 15 mpg

He also played on a team where all the starters were in double digits in DRB%, I believe. Which could very easily mean his role on defense was to box out other team's best rebounder, and everyone else crash the boards.

i guess phx did the same thing for his 4 years there too...he has always been an atrocious def rebounder. he has never in his career had a drb% as high as leonards was last year

pretty good on the offensive boards though

You'd be amazed on how playing next to Aldridge will improve all your rebounding areas. Most the time, the teams put their best defender on Aldridge; which brings that defender farther from the paint. That leaves the other player to have a better opportunity to rebound. Look how well Hickson rebounded... He was considerably better than his other years.

No confirmation from source Pelicans center Robin Lopez has been traded, but he definitely being shopped - Pacers interested.

Honestly, if we picked up Lopez, I'd rather just keep Leonard than trade for Asik.

Do the Pacers have cap space? If not then what do they have to trade in expiring or non-guaranteed contracts? IF you believe the rumors, it sounds like it is between the Pacers and us for getting Robin Lopez in a trade.

Nice game v. the Pacers. Everything around the basket. Good compliment to LaMarcus.

25 years old, very reasonable contract, 18.9 PER last year. Doesn't sound too bad to me...
