When I got back from school, I was surprised that know one made a thread about the NFL's first game yet. Well, I will then.I know a ton of you saw it. What did you think. Some thoughts I had:-Dolphins Secondary actually looked pretty terrible. Noone was there on that Heath Miller 80 yard TD. As soon as he broke the initial defense, he was gone. That was a pretty terrible play by the Dolhpins. And also, they committed two errant Pass Interference Penalties, and all together 3 TD passes from Charlie freaking Batch-Who is Nate Washington? I heard that he had no catches in the '05 season last year. And then he goes and gets a TD in the first game of this season. It was a pretty impressive catch, although there was not much defense being played on it. He went up and got it. We'll see how he does later on in the year.-Joey Porter and Troy Polamalu are certified freaks. Joey Porter had an amazing day. I think he got like 1-2 sacks, and an INT for a TD. He had a terrific night. Troy Polamalu was as usual, all over the field. He also got an INT in his first game. Impressive game.-I'm not trying to have a hating fest on the Dolphins here. Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor are amazing defensive players and had great nights. Especially Taylor, who had a great 2nd half.-Charlie Batch had an impressive night. I remember ArizonaFan saying that he was looking forward to seeing Charlie Batch suck. Well guess what? He had 3 TD's, and 0 INT's. He had a great night for a backup, and the Steelers probably wouldnt have won if they had to play Tommy Maddox instead.-Culpepper was way off today. He had alot of errant misses, and just gave up in the final quarter, throwing 2 INT's in that Q. Pretty bad opening night for Daunte. He also had a wide open Chris Chambers in the endzone, but elected to pass it right to Ike Taylor-Ike Taylor did a pretty good job on Chris Chambers, except for one play where he did not have good coverage on him in the red zone, got lucky with a pass softly thrown right to him, but missed the INT. Oh well, the dude shut out Chambers in the first half, and had a pretty great night. Those were some of my observations. Post your thoughts on the NFL's first game.
The running game for us was non existant so there was ALOT more pressure on Daunte and he get a little erratic which is why he threw those picks. If the defense knows your going to pass it's easier to get INT's.Parker was a beast, it wasn't Batch that won them the game, the defense and Willie Parker won the game for the Steelers.Nick Saban, what were you thinking!!!!! He waited to the last second to throw the flag and then he throws it like a little pansy, the softest under-hand throw imaginable.
Parker had a couple great runs, but in the early going he was averaging like 2 yards a carry or something like that. Batch through 3 TD's. Batch was a great part of that victory. Dont deny it man.And would it really of mattered? The ball would have been spotted as 1st in goal with 1 yard until the endzone. If they didnt get it the first try, they would get it in on the second. It's not like the challenge would have prevfented the completion, or brought it back 70 something yards.

Off course it would have matter, if we get a stop we might have forced them to make a field goal. Even if they do score that touchdown, Daunte might not have thrown a pick. And Willie opened the game for Charlie and the rest of the offense, which gave Batch a couple of easy looks.
That was a fluke. I'm sure that Haynes or Willie Parker would have punched it in, and there would have been a score. Youre making it out to be a big deal, when it's not.
I didn't watch the game but I read about it in the paper. The Dolphins messed up bad. They could have won the game but they made too many mistakes. Plus, the secondary didn't help out like they were supposed to. They let Heath Miller go 80 something yards for a touchdown. That's crazy!! One of the good parts of the game though was that Wes Welker had a terrific night. He along with other key players helped the Dolphins stay in the game for the most part.
Yeah, I forgot to mention Welker. He had a terrific night. He had a great punt return that got them in position for a TD, and caught a fair amount of passes in the game too.
Oh well, we got a well deserved ass whooping. Steelers came into the game mad underrated. People tend to forget these are the defending superbowl champs. I'm not worried though, Culpepper really was not as bad as most people think, just got most of the blame because of his two late game interceptions, he was actually looking pretty sharp up until the end. Our offense struggled for three reasons. 1. Our O-line was horrendous (especially run blocking) 2. TERRIBLE offenisve play calling 3. We were up against arguably the best, if not top 3 defense in the league. Saban is gonna whip these boys back into shape though, I'm confident we'll bounce back next week...bring it on Buffalo!
I'm sorry but I don't like the Dolphins at all...I lot of people are picking them to win the division..etc...Your offensive line is pretty bad. VErnon Carey has been a bust, Bennie Anderson was terrible last season and I don't know why you picked him up, I just don't like the offensive line...and then your defensive backfield is pretty bad as well...yeesh.
Will Allen is a pretty good DB though. That was a nice pickup. Renaldo Hill is also an above average DB. I agree though, there DB's were dissapointing on Thursday.
I know our secondary is a problem, but most people didn't know probably our best corner (Travis Daniels), was out with an injury that game, but he should be back next week. Also, Saban's specialty is with defensive backs, so hopefully over time he can get them to improve some. As for our O-Line, it was a surprise to me, because during the second half of last season all the way into this year's pre-season they've been very solid, but I don't know what was up thursday, I don't know if it was the Steelers or they just had a bad game, but their play definitely came as surprise to me.
