The move in of itself is a good value move

But the Blazers are still far away and big moves still have to be made.

No reason to be so excited about this move. It's just a good value deal, nothing more. The Blazers haven't drastically altered their team potential.

Yes, but if he's waived by 10/31/13 (which he obviously will), he'll only be owed about 150k.

I disagree. Our bench was the NBA's worst last year, and was responsible for a lot of our losses. Now that we have a much improved bench, we'll be able to hold more of those leads and win games. It's the little things that often add up to big things.

If Olshey does make a big move this off-season, I will welcome it, but already we are significantly better than last year.

Agreed. If we hadn't tanked the last 13 and had gone even .500 in those games that would have been 6 more wins right there. I don't think it hard to imagine this team making a good jump.

Does Harris even have a contract for next season? I thought he was just signed till the end of the year. He's pretty much a D-Leaguer, no? Maybe we got him to include in our next deal?

Just because the bench should be better than last year doesn't mean it's a great bench. Right now the main players off the bench look like

    Robinson/Leonard/McCollum

It's still a young bench that will lean on first and second year guys. The bench will probably still be a weak spot for the Blazers. We have to hope they can handle it and that McCollum will be as good as advertised and Robinson can be better than last year.

You are giving claver little credit. All he needs is a shot and he's right up there.

I love this move. Can we extend Neil's contract?

Taking a terrible team to respectable is the easy part.

Taking a respectable team to a contender is the hard part.

Neil Olshey still has a bunch of work to do.

Hats off to Olshey for making acquisitions to make the team better in a shitty free agent market and virtually no tradeable assets coming into the offseason. This team has gotten better and without a doubt deeper. We didn't have a problem with our starting 5 last year, it was the fact that we had no depth. We've addressed those concerns.

This off-season supports the premise by some of us that last off-season's abysmal bench signings were purposefully intended to get us a lottery pick this summer. Then our starters and coach almost blew the entire plan. We were lucky to end up with anyone even as good as C.J.

Are you kidding me?? Olshey has done a sensational job so far, and I'm stunned that you can't see it. At the center position alone, we now have Lopez, Leonard, and Withey, a significant upgrade from last year. It's also worth pointing out that Lopez shot 53% from the field last season. Center can now fairly be called a position of strength for us.

Better than any of the realistic FA centers. Who would honestly rather have Kaman or Zaza?
