I did not quit... I was not able to follow them on TV. Why is this an argument?

I try to start a real discussion about this team's future, and all you contribute to this thread is getting on your high horse and accusing other posters of not being real fans. Sure buddy...

you said "I did not follow the team at all last year" and then told us that gave you a unique perspective to present an unbiased view of what direction the team should go. You're starting this thread admitting up front you don't know what you're talking about, but insulting those who might disagree with your guesses as somehow biased by info and facts from having paid attention.

This board fucking blows. You literally just argue about semantics instead of discussing basketball.

Why don't you show me how I don't know what I'm talking about with your own basketball opinion instead of having this retarded discussion? Jesus.

So sorry for trying to answer your question

If I don't follow the stock market, would you invest your money with my investment firm? If I don't have a watch/access to a clock, would you trust my opinion as to what time it is?

that you don't know what you're talking about is what you admit to in the first sentence in this thread. You want to blow up the team? Fine, noted, whatever. Of course some other posters want to blow up the team and others don't. Others are along for the ride trusting in the GM to move the needle. What the team should do is all just opinions though, there is no proving who is right at this point. Someday with the benefit of hindsight we'll somewhat know whats what... but in the future those who link past threads showing that they were correct back in the day will be told to let it go.

Nothing wrong with that! He got experience with the Clippers before he came here.

With where we are in the offseason I am fine with that balance. With the remaining cap we try to bring in a big on the cheap and maybe a vet cheap pg.
We would look more balanced with whitey and Price on the team, but that would not make us any better at this point. mathews can play some SF so that helps on the balance also.

That list has 13 players. I do not see us keeping all those SG's you listed. Williams is not even on the roster right now so I would take him off until we actually sign him.

It is safe to say we need one more PG. After that it is between a C and a SF. Arguments can be made for both. But it is only July 5th, so this list could change quickly in the next 5 days.

Is anyone else thinking "consolidation trade" sometime between Dec 15 and Feb 15?

    Bingo.

I've been thinking about this strategy Olshey has undertaken, and I'm reminded of what Whitsitt did in the late 90s. He collected reams and reams of serviceable players and converted them into a Pippen. Granted, Whitsitt did it with a hell of a lot more money and we had a lot more talent on that roster, but the idea is the same. We may not get a Pippen, but get another couple of decent players and perhaps we can turn it into a quality veteran SG or C who has a very high salary.

Freeland can be 3rd center. McCollum's not really a PG but I had to put him there. You could make Matthews 2nd SF, but he's so short. I think the biggest need is getting a 2nd SF, allowing Claver to be both SF and PF, which allows Freeland to cover C as well as PF.

With the direction of the team, I doubt we could've done any better than we did with Cap Space and 2nds.

Would I have liked to see JJ Redick on our team at 4/27M? Hell, yes. If we could've gotten Splitter for 4/36 without SAS matching, I would've been on board. But when we drafted McCollum and Crabbe (instead of, say, trading LMA or Batum for Noel or Len + whatever) then I think we effectively punted the 2014 draft pick to CHA and needed to get as much quality depth as possible. I think there has to be a consolidation trade at some point between Dec 15 and Feb 15, and that's whether or not LMA is traded.

I like how we moved cap space, our #10, and 2nds for guys who will be our 5th (Lopez), 6th (McCollum), 7th (Robinson), and 9th (Crabbe?) man and pushing our projected starting C (Leonard) to #8--while keeping the entire Core Four intact.

No. We are just now starting to build depth.

He still is. He will most likely be cut either a) when we need cap space, b) right before his contract becomes guaranteed, c) right after he's traded this summer to someone who wants to cut cap costs, d) right after next year's draft.
