I've been a Comcast subscriber since 2005 (since i started paying for my own cable bill) and am finally moving on. They made another rate hike this month to my bill and my promotional period had ended. When i called to get them to lower it again (which ive always done and succeeded) but this time they said "No". So i started looking into Frontier (FIOS) but i always knew they didnt have service out here on the westside, but now they do! Which is why i started this thread. So all you west-siders, you can finally stick it to Comcast. FYI, my bill is substantially lower, and it will only rise 10$ after the 6-month promo period.
Did you only talk to the first person you got a hold of at Comcast? I usually get whatever I want with the second or third person I talk to at Comcast
Yeah it was like that for me. Then I talked to the second person a couple months ago. I got cable with the hd box, xfinity streampix, hbo, and blast super fast internet for 69.99 per month. It goes up to 79.99 per month after six months
Any FIOS/Frontier customers out there that can tell me a little bit about the channel lineup and maybe what id be missing by switching? Already know i wont have red-zone during NFL... Santi i thought you had FIOS?
I hate to burst your bubble but I have FIOS and I fucking hate it just as bad as comcast. Their customer service is just as terrible and their pricing is just as ambiguous and convoluted as comcast. I've spent days worth of hours on the phone with them trying to adjust my package, and they always end up messing things up causing me to not get what I want or to be charged extra. I once literally spent hours on the phone in hopes of getting my package lowered by $40 and in the end it went up $10. Then you can't get shit done with less than an hour as you will be on hold for probably at least that long, so when that happens your so exhausted with dealing with them that you don't call back again for a few weeks. I also dont even want my home phone (as I have the triple play packaged grandfathered in from when they bought out verizon years ago) and when I try and get that cut off they threaten disconection fee's. When my initial 2 year commitment came up last September I called two weeks before my plan was up to try and get a deal, spent hours on the phone was told things would be adjusted, they of course messed them up and put me on an auto renew plan which didn't give me any discounts but tied me to another two years of commitment (I did not opt for auto renew by the way), when I called to complain they said I should have called before my plan was up and there was no record of my previous call, tough luck for me. Another thing I hate is that there is no online interface from Frontier to adjust your plan or order/change equipment, you have to call them. Verizon at least had a really good online interface that I could do everything with. As frustrating and annoying as this all is I stay with them because I know Comcast isn't any better and I can't watch the Blazers on directv. If I could get the blazers reliably on the internet I would cut off my cable and just go with hulu/netflix. The channel line up is about the same and as I see it the only benefit Frontier has is their FIOS internet speeds. Comcast has a few options that interest me like being able to control your DVR with your phone or remotely via the internet. Also being able to remotely watch your TV via internet log on, Ipad, iphone, etc sound very nice. Frontier has none of that. Comcast also offers more and better on demand and even adds 3D on demand. Unfortunately all cable providers seem to offer the same crappy product and ultimately it doesn't matter who you go with. Nothing will really improve until the industry gets some competition to break their oligarchy. Intel has an interesting al le carte TV channel system in the works and google is doing some great things with google fiber but they are both meeting great resistance from the big providers.
