MarAzul, I actually agree with you about what the bible says about being gay. This is one of the main reasons why I think Christianity is a detestable way to live ones life.
Asking very narrow and pointed questions is the same as making a statement. If I repeatedly ask different variations of, "why are black people so stupid?" I am making a bold statement that I am a racist.
Now read the Koran, that will give you some perspective. I think you can probably identify with infidel. Some scary chit in store for that lot.
I don't know enough about it, but I do believe most likely that I would think the Koran just as terrible a thing to base ones life on as the bible.
Thank you for trying to shield me. You deflected successfully as no answers came. Yes my questions were pointed, yes I perceive inconsistence and I was trying to see if anyone would shed more light. Perhaps another day. By the way, a racist accusation is often use today, it damn near is the preferred choice.
Deuteronomy 24:1-2 Divorce and remarriage: "When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife."
I wasn't calling you a racist. Only pointing out that asking questions can be used as a statement of a person's believes or intentions (and my example did take things to an extreme, lol) . I do think you're being honest in wanting to know how homosexuality fits into modern Christian doctrine.
That's between them and God. Just as other sin is between them and God. Regardless, I think most the Old Testament is to prove to man that they cannot live a righteous life. Only through Jesus are we cleansed and by his blood we are made righteous. Don't let the atheists sway the Christian belief.
So being openly gay is a sin? Not arguing with you, I'm just wondering if that is what you meant to say.
You can't do that mags, use Old Testament to support your views when they match but say the Old Testament is just stories when they conflict with your views.
Many times in the past when people bring up the more draconian parts of the old testament you claim it invalid and say New Testament is the only one that counts. But then you quote Deuteronomy from the Old Testament when it happens to agree with your point. Do you believe the Old Testament is the word of god or just the New Testament? Should people be put o death for adultery, blasphemy, breaking the sabbath and apostasy as is promoted in the Old Testament?
