There has to be at least 2 deals that will go down. Right now look at the forwards.

    Boyle
    Brassard
    Moore
    Richards
    Stepan
    Hagelin
    Kreider
    Nash
    Pouliot
    Pyatt
    Cally
    Dorsett
    Zuccarello
    Kristo
    Fast
    Lindberg
    Miller

That's 17. Clark and Sather said they wanted to leave the door open for prospects. To me, that isn't leaving the door open. Something has to happen via a trade.

Some of the guys you mentioned, the last 4 mainly, are young and could start in the minors (I do not see all 4 being here). In addition we do have two extra spots to start with since Cally and Hags will miss the first handful of games.

Powe and Asham will be in the minors I think.

And once we signed Pouliot I think that meant one of Boyle or Pyatt will be dealt for sure. Either for a pick to just get rid of their contract, or maybe in a little bigger package deal with a Hags to bring in a better scoring winger.

But I agree, something will be done. I simply do not see Pyatt and Boyle both on this team to start the season. One will go IMO.

Unless they are a lot more worried about Hagelin and Cally coming back then they have let on. Seems like they are acquiring a lot of insurance. I honestly can't believe no teams out there would take Powe and Asham for a low draft pick. Both to me are guys that would upgrade a lot of teams 4th lines. Teams all talked about trying to dump money then you see the morons spending like drunken sailors in free agency. You can't tell me the Oilers couldn't have used Powe and Asham on that young team for a 5th round pick.

That could be the case, but I bet they miss around 10 games or so. So I am sure they want coverage for that.

Bigger than that though, and this is a broken record now, but it is about depth. Look what Sather and AV have said non-stop. Depth depth depth. That are crazed with it. So I think that is why we see all these forwards and dmen being brought in.

As for Powe and Asham, I kind of agree. Maybe a team would want them for cheap, but truthfully it doesn't really matter. If we bury them in the minors we save 1.85 mill of their just over 2 mill combined salary. So they won't really affect the cap. Maybe 200 K combined or so only.

Powe was a good 4th line player and even if you don't like Asham, the guy has a cannon for a shot. He doesn't have the skill to use it often but he will score some goals with that shot at big moments. He also can protect guys. I see a lot worse players on the bottom lines of teams.

I agree about Powe. He is a solid PK guy and does his job well. I am not sure why bring him here and then send him to the minors.

I'm guessing they have a plan with the new coach involved.

17-2 because of Callahan and Hags not starting the season. A guy like Zuccarello might see it best to go back overseas to play.

Our fan base is divided on Zucc. Good guy but I'm not high on him. However, I also have to factor in that his style of play is a complete miss-match for Torts stupid system.
