I think they would have made more of an effort to keep Hickson if they were trading LA. But I'd like to see what we can get for an LA/Batum package.

I mean now, after Olshey has restocked the roster with a supporting cast for Aldridge, after you've said in another thread that you could see this team winning 50 games with the current roster, WHAT IN HADES DO YOU WANT TO TRADE ALDRIDGE FOR?

    ;)

No, he is not done. He is still surveying the field. When some poor schmuck who would normally make $7M/year doesn't land a job because everyone has spend their cash, Olshey will swoop in and offer them our exception.

I would want horford and no one else. I think he is the one player I believe is at the same level as Aldridge.

that's exactly what i've been thinking. i think he's going to get all the i's dotted and t's crossed on these moves on july 10. after a little time, he'll then do some shopping for a 3rd center with the exception money.

Yep, good answer. In one regard, one step forward...then bring the other step....and so on.

I agree completely. First he had to gather assets, now he can consolidate them. For the record, we're still a little lean on assets, but our bench is just so much better than it was, it seems like a huge improvement.

If we keep Aldridge (I think we will); we need that wing. I wish batum could step up to the next level. If he does; then we are in like Flynn!

i think it will take a little time to see which players are not going to be picked up by other teams. basically i think we're looking for an insurance policy type center at this point.

Oden? I'm pretty sure he's on some type of insurance policy.

He has to add another big. Lopez and Leonard are it, with LA being able to play the position if need be. Lopez is a bit injury prone, and Meyers sucks ass defensively. if LA is forced to play the 5, and if the team is hell bent on mediocrity in the form of the 8th seed, than having Thomas Robinson start isn't the best option. They need either a vet 4 or 5

It isn't a matter of want. What I want has no bearing on the matter whatsoever. The point that I, and a few others have pointed out is that we think Aldridge wants out. There seems to be some evidence that this is the case. We would rather trade him now, while he has his highest value, rather than wait a year and have teams think they have us over a barrel. I'm against holding onto him and letting him walk because I don't think cap space nets us a player of his caliber. I would rather trade him for a few players that at least have the chance to be as good as Aldridge.

And yes, I think Olshey built the team to win. That should always be the goal of a GM. Tanking is risky. It hasn't worked out in the past for a number of teams that went full tank mode. There's no guarantee that you'll get the #1 pick if you have the worst record. I think Olshey plans to build the team to win, and then if a trade for Aldridge comes along that makes sense, so be it.

I really wouldn't be surprised if it was a deal to GS. The deal makes quite a bit of sense for both teams, but that doesn't mean there aren't other deals that could be made. If it was Aldridge for Lee/Barnes/Thompson, which might be wishful thinking on our part, but it would still keep us in contention while also building for the future. That's the kind of deal I think Neil wants. If we acquired Barnes, we could turn around and move Batum for a better center prospect.

    Aldridge/Matthews for Lee/Barnes/Thompson.

Add Batum to the TRob deal. Batum for Asik/TRob.

    Lillard/CJ/Watson
    Thompson/Crabbe/Barton
    Barnes/Wright
    Lee/Robinson/Claver
    Asik/Lopez/Leonard

That team is still a playoff team next year, but has a ton of youth and promise for the future.... just my two cents.

Or the rumors aren't true and if we make the playoffs; he extends his contract.

Since both of us are shooting from the hip; I like my idea better.
