Hey NOVoodoo (or anyone else), whats the scouting report on Marreese Speights? I know hes got a good mid-range J but can't say I've seen a ton of him.

agree with that. if we suck for like the 4th year a in row, it's hard to blame him for wanting to leave.

Well no shit. If the team sucks going into the final year of his deal, and he wants to win, why would he stay in Portland? I've yet to hear from anyone how the Blazers get better by trading LMA for either Crappy Carlos Boozer, or Joakim Noah (who would be expiring the same time as LMA, fwiw, and has no reason to feel connected to the Blazers), or draft picks, or Derrick Favors, or Omer Asik, etc. etc.

What kind of fool would say they are definitely staying in Portland after their contract. Has any UFA said that in recent years with two years left on their deal, and stayed with the team longer than the two years?

Well can play the whole semantics game about Aldridge perhaps technically not asking to be traded.

Make no mistake about it, though. He's definitely open to the possibility, and he definitely hasn't said he's committed here long-term. That kind of leads you to the fact that Aldridge has already started looking past his 2 years left in Portland at other possibilities.

No one will make the argument that the Blazers get better by trading Aldridge. What they will say is being a .500 team won't keep Aldridge here (last I checked the Blazers look like a .500 team), and if that's the case, then trade him now instead of being a pointless .500. Don't delay it.

    We'll see

I highly doubt the Blazers acquire championship pieces by then

I don't think we need to be a championship contender. We need to make it out of the first round. We do that and surely he stays.

So you only ask that he plays out his contract and then he can leave?

You don't really hedge your bets, do you Mags? You're one of those guys who like to go down with the ship?

I don't see how sticking with Aldridge and bringing in talent is "going down with the ship"? If Aldridge stays and olshey brings in more talent; it only helps us.

Because you want to ride it to the end and hope that Aldridge re-signs in two years. That's going down with the ship imo.

At the very least, wouldn't you say that we should ride out the year, offer him a max deal next summer, and if he doesn't sign it then trade him?
