Will MyLe be able to handle primary backup at Center this season?

I would love to be proven wrong. I hope Meyers shits all over my comments with huge production. I love to be wrong when I talk shit about players. That means we are better off than we truly are.

I don't know brother. I've been on the trade Matthews and Leonard bandwagon since last season. I will cheer when they rock, but they haven't done anything that has persuaded me otherwise. Have I posted anything that said "Don't trade Matthews or Leonard?"

Other than Wesley's trouble staying healthy, I'm not sure why you are in such a hurry to trade him him Mags? He generally plays up to the value of his contract, provides a level of professionalism and calm confidence that I think every team needs in a glue player and has the ability to play off of Lillard pretty nicely. I'm not saying I wouldn't trade him if the right deal came along, but I think you are undervaluing him a little bit.

Meyers seems like he has the drive to get better, I think it will start bumpy for him but by the end of the season he will be solid. He has the tools and the drive... lets just hope it clicks.

How long should this franchise be held hostage to the JO'N mistake? At some point patience becomes an excuse for stagnation.

IMHO Lynyrd and Freeland need to go to make room for someone who might actually contribute.

I think one day Leonard will be a solid good player. i just see us having the time to wait. I believe Leonard would work for a team that maybe wants to tank and reload in next summer's draft. They have the time to rebuild with him. I would love to get Horford for Matthews, Leonard and maybe another player like Freeland (Probably no chance in hell).

Mags, I really think you're being unfair in your judgement of Meyers. So he was crappy on D last year as a 20 year old who has only been a Center for a couple seasons. His offense is very good for his age, he has all the athleticism and physical attributes, but most importantly, he is a hard worker. He is lost right now, the game plays faster than he thinks. But that's a matter of repetition and experience. Even as a shitty defender, he was always hustling and trying, so once a bit more sinks in, you are going to end up with a pretty steep growth curve if you ask me. Once he starts to get it, he will really improve quickly. That's what hard work does when you have all the other physical gifts.

We shall see, but think you are bugnutty.

Meyers reminds me of a Great Dane puppy ... which is to say he may never grow out of that awkward "what the hell am I supposed to be doing?" affect, but if he does start to put it together and gets better on the boards and defense he could be a nice player. Historically speaking that's a pretty big "if," but he's got a shot at least.

Right ... so I was talking about Matthews and nowhere did I say anything about Leonard in the post that you responded to ...

Oh sorry. The only reason why I say Matthews is because I think we put so many guards on our team. Just thinking management thinks he's not part of the future.

Listen, I hope Leonard makes me look like a stupid fool. I just don't see him improving in the timeline we are in.

I want Matthews to stay, but I think management is planning to move him.

I don't think Matthews alone can give us good quality return, but adding a prospect like Leonard could net us something much better.

    Cyrusly? MyLe?

Our 4 sophs from last year put in serious time in the gym this off season, and I'm sure it will help. ML hasn't been playing basketball for very long, so it should be a little easier for him to improve. The real question for me is "how many minutes?" Here's my current answer:

    12 minutes - great
16 minutes - should be OK
20 minutes - will be tough on him
24 minutes - I don't think he's ready to be effective for that long
RoLo goes down - I start dream about Wiggins...

edit: just wanted to point out that in 12 mpg he'll be primarily playing against backups, at 24 mpg he'll be playing a lot against non-tired starters.

Leonard may not start, but by season's end he'll be the center who closes out most games.
