Stann, 32, finishes with a career record of 12-6, having lost his last fight to Wanderlei Silva. Stann has taken a gig doing football commentary for the ACC but will remain a part of UFC broadcasts. Stann cites the reason for his early retirement as having a new child on the way and feeling the toll the sport has taken on his body making it too much of a risk to continue. Captain Stann is also a Marine veteran who was awarded a Silver Star for his role in surviving an ambush near Al-Karābilah, Iraq, during Operation Matador.

Always put on exciting fights. Loved his stoppage of Leben. Best of luck to him in life. He's got a great gig with the commentating thing, so walking away is the smart thing.
