That video just reinforces some thoughts I'd been having lately after reflecting on the roster moves this summer. I think it's pretty clear that this team is being built along the lines of the Spurs...and with good reason. LMA is the closest PF in the league to having the skill set of a younger Duncan. Lillard can develop to being the equal or better of Parker. The moves made have put solid 3 point shooters at both wing positions and the PG spot for both the starters and bench. That will make teams pay for doubling LMA and make him an even more effective player. Sure, there's not much experience and there may be some busts that will have to be replaced going forward, but this team is constructed on paper to really benefit LMA's game. If I'm Olshey, I'd be meeting with LaMarcus before the season and making that pitch. I'd ask him whether he wants to be a Bosh or a Duncan. Bosh will always be viewed as the third wheel who tagged along with LeBron and Wade to two championships (and counting). Duncan will be viewed as the best PF in the history of the game. LaMarcus will need to step his game up if a lot if he wants to challenge Duncan's legacy in an meaningful way, but if I'm Olshey, I'm telling him that he intends to give him every opportunity to do it.

It always surprises me that when You hear a ball player talk about his coach/gm and all, they almost never talk about a real close relationship where stuff like you are discussing would be talked about. It's always "he said I should work on weak-side rebounding" or something like that, never anything inspirational. The two big exceptions are Pop with the spurs, as you just mentioned, and Phil with his zen-crap. Anyway, it would seem if the two best coaches in the game share this trait, perhaps more coaches should build stronger, more personal relationships with their players.

Not sure if it is this same clip, but was seeing quotes online from him, on the, teams win games, not names, and loved that it seemed he was basically calling out the local media, IMO, for their opinions of not making a bigger splash type of offseason.

That's what I thought, as well. Of course, if and when the team makes improvements, the likes of Jaynes and Canzano, etc. will be declaring that they called it all along. There's no issuing any semblance of accountability on those such & suches.

I used to think the same about KP. Will wait another season to anoint him. Learned my lesson

I just think he's one of those people who always looks ragged. Like they had a real hard week.

I was thinking the opposite actually. They are similar in terms of charisma and polish, but I always felt like KP was hiding the ball or being coy.

I like how he confirmed Aldridge was pleased and part of the process to get Lopez. Quick can suck my dick!

I don't think he needed to get into it. Olshey said Aldridge was actually part of the process, as in he wanted Lopez.

Just confirming that quick and the other hacks that said Lopez was meh and probably not enough to get him to sign was all bullshit. Obviously, Aldridge wanted Lopez, therefor there was nothing "meh" about it to him.

Anyone who thinks names win championships, may I happily refer you to the 2012-2013 Los Angeles Lakers.

Part of his job is to sell the product. And that's what he did in that video clip. If the intent is to be lousy enough at the end of the day to collect another pick, he ain't going to say that because they are trying to sell tickets. He has a plan and he has an idea on how good this team will be. The team might be good enough to make the playoffs. They probably aren't bad enough to hold on to their pick which is lottery.. As the season progresses, he's going to have to address this.
