two offensive players (quarterback Kevin Hogan and offensive lineman David Yankey) and three defensive players (linebackers Shane Skov, Trent Murphey and defensive end Ben Gardner) have been noted to the watch list of two of the nation's top awards for the upcoming season. Hogan and Yankey are possible candidates for the Maxwell Award, traditionally given to the best player in college football. Stanford's Andrew Luck won the award following the 2011 season.
