Yes or no?I think that as of right now they are. Sure I will get the people who will call me bias, but that is my opinion. I don't think a team that hasn't had time to gel together, and does not have a legit primary scoring option should be considered instant contenders, and even some instant favorites for a championship. I am not saying that I don't think they can be a top tier team this year, because I do, however I don't think that always equals a championship contender. When I see so many people getting offended when others think the Bulls aren't instant contenders it pisses me off, because people call them bias or idiots or whatever. I want to know, are too many people overrating the Bulls?
They are not a title contender but a very good team. Kirk Hinrich / Chris Duhon Ben Gordon / Adrian Griffin / Thabo Sefalosha Luol Deng / Andres Nocioni Mike Sweetney / Tyrus Thomas / Malik Allen Ben Wallace / P.J. Brown That lineup is missing offensive presense inside and is very young. They will give you hell like always but they don't have the offense to do it unless Ben Gordon breaks out.
I think they are a little overrated. It's seems that everybody thinks they're going to contend for the title just because they added Ben Wallace. I don't think it's that easy.
Yes and no.Yes in the sense that they won't be a championship team, but they are very good. They got arguably the best defensive team in the league, with some of the best perimeter defenders in leage, and now Big Ben. They need a first scoring option, however, who can consistently give you X amount of points. Without that, they won't be a championship team.
I don't think chemistry will be a factor at all. it's not like Ben Wallace and Adrian Griffin are going to disrupt the offense. But I do think they are overrated. Defense was what won them games last year, and they improved on their defense only. Their lack of offense was what held them back, and they didn't improve on that. Unless Ben Gordon goes beyond what anyone else has been doing, this team won't make the ECF's.
Question:who will start at PF? I liked Mike Sweetney, but for some reason, he ended up in Skiles' doghouse. He got good hands, can bang a little bit, sof touch around the basket, hell, I would like him in NJ!But can the rookie Thomas provide some inside scoring? nobody else can, and that's what will hurt them.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>who will start at PF?</div> PJ Brown. To answer the topic question. No, I haven't heard anyone declaring Bulls the next champs lately. They seem to be where they are in terms of how their perceived with actuality.
Good ol' PJ? Really think so? Ben Gordon better put up some points, 'cause they sure won't be getting any from the inside.
yeah, what's wrong with good ole PJ. He started for Hornets most of the year out of position. Now he's playing his natural position alongside Ben.
Unfortunatley, they are overrated. They are a good basketball team, but they arent going to make it to the finals while teams like Detrot, Miami, and Cleveland are still there. Many people expect them to represent the east in the finals and that is alot to expect. They dont have an offensive weapon downlow in the post and they are too young. In a couple years, I dont think that they will be able to be overrated. They WILL be that good...
I recall Miami as the east favorites still. Anyways, I think that the Bulls could contend for a title but most likley wont. Theres no way you can see they dont have a chance though because you saw them win 2 games against miami and theyve improved drastically. You say their team hasnte gelled together but its the addition of some new guys that havent gotten together. Hirnich, gordon, duhon, deng, nocioni should all be great together. Ben Wallace brings a tough mentality and PJ Brown is one of the best lockerroom influences. I dont think that will be an issue.
Yes they have become overrated soley on the fact that people are counting them as contenders. We still have not seen how the new players will work out with the old ones and we don't know if someone will step up as the main option yet. This is a good team and could be a top 3 seed in the East but they need to prove it first before they can be considered contenders or even a top 3 team in the East.
The Chicago Bulls are not overrated but are hyped up because of the new acquisitions. When you add Ben Wallace to the system you're going to get alot of talk around the basketball world and you will find high expectations with the additions from Chicago Bulls fans. I hope the Chicago Bulls can contend for an NBA championship but I honestly think we are going to lose in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Miami Heat in seven games. That is my honest opinion but I don't think that the Chicago Bulls are overrated but instead hyped up. You have so many players coming in hoping you have break out season. Andres Nocioni shined in the FIBA tournament and in the playoffs against the Miami Heat and many fans have high expectations for Noc. Luol Deng,Ben Gordon, and Captain Kirk Hinrich also have great expectations and most fans are looking for around 15-22 points each from the four players who all came into the league at the same time and really took and made the Chicago Bulls a playoff team. However,I don't see the Chicago Bulls competing for a championship because they lack that 22-25 ppg leader that could control the team late in games. If Ben Gordon develops into that player that we hope he can then I think we could be one of the most complete teams in the league and develop for another NBA championship.I can't promise that we win an NBA championship or finish first or second in the Eastern Conference but I can promise and guarantee you that the Chicago Bulls will finish with a better record and advance further in the playoffs than the Detroit Pistons. As much as Piston fans might hate that but we have your heart and soul and we have Kirk Hinrich and Ben Gordon and they can put up the same stats as Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton. You have the great backcourt and we have a great backcourt also but we have Luol Deng and Andres Nocioni at the small forward position which is better than Tayshaun Prince. I will admit you have the edge at the power forward position in Rasheed Wallace but not by much. We have Michael Sweetney,Tyrus Thomas, and P.J. Brown who could all have solid season with the Chicago Bulls next season. The only player that seperates the Chicago Bulls from the Detroit Pistons is Ben Wallace, the best defensive player in the league. You had him and now you like to make theories of how he won't be the same Ben Wallace and that Nazr Mohammed is "better fit for the Pistons." You can make all the excuses you wan't but the truth is we're a better team and you know it.
No, not at all. They have an effective offense, and a great defense now, (one of the bests in the League with Ben Wallace now anchoring it). They also have lots of depth, and youth, with some experience. I could see them getting to the ECF. They will be one of the top teams in the East.

No Rasheed Wallace here.I can imagine PJ coming off the bench, backing up Wallace.
I think they are. nobody has really had a good chance to see how they play yet, so nobody could really know how well they play together. I mean, sure, they have a really good team now, but just because they got Ben Wallace, everyone thinks they will make the finals.OVERRATED, IMO.
Right now they are. I mean, you can look at their roster and say, 'Wow, they have a young core of talent and they've just aqquired a defensive beast in Big Ben. They're certainly going to be a top team in the NBA.' OK, but we havent even seen them play ONE game. This is just ridiculous. They might succeed, sure, but they can also have problems with chemistry. You never know. We dont know, thats for sure. Wait 'till they play at least one game and then talk about how great they are.

Billups was an MVP candidate, he is top 3 in clutchitivity, he can score at will, better shooter, better passer, superior player to Kirk Hinrich right now. Gordon is a streak scorer, while you can write Richard Hamilton down for 20 a night. Chauncey and Rip have proven themselves to be all stars, Kirk and Gordon haven't, and stats wise, Rip and Chauncey win in that category too.2. Don't forget Antonio McDyess at power forward for us either, he has been in the top 5 for 6th man for the last two years.3. <span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">THE BULLS ARE NOT BETTER THEN THE PISTONS UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE</span>You sit here and call Piston fans bias, when in acctuallity you are the one telling us who is better, without even seeing the team play a single game! You act like the Piston fans are super bitter still, well most of us have gotten over it, I know I have because I am excited for this new season to start, so stop telling us how pissed we are still that Ben is gone, because as much as you may think you know, you don't.

We never know how far they will get by acquiring Big Ben. Yeah, Ben has proven to be a defensive threat, but it's not the same team. What if Tyrus Thomas decides to guard a player that Big Ben wants to stick? I don't know... I see a chemistry here, but we can't judge the team until the season begins. Until then, let's all wait.
