Barton's game is going to look a lot better than it was.

What did we learn from this game?

CJ is really good..... but not a point guard.

Barton is ridiculously out of control, hasn't improved his decision making, and is the very definition of raw.

    Freeland is "meh"

Meyers is maybe one step above Barton on the "Raw meter"

TRob looked really good in the first quarter, but he looks like he might be out of shape. He ran out of steam as the game went on. Not sure if it was because he was tired or if he lost interest without getting the ball passed to him but once in a blue moon.

This is basically what I take from it.

He should be pretty good next to Lillard as Lillard will get doubled and CJ will play 1 on 1

You don't know the Legend of Robinson? He flunked Sacramento because he thought he is a shooter. McHale persuaded him that he's a rebounder.

Missed the first half - sounds like that's where the watchable basketball was. I did like what I saw from CJ, but he was just getting swarmed thanks to the rest of the squad's inability to shoot.

First half we were looking great.... and then Phoenix figured out that CJ was the only one who could score. It went downhill from there.

CJ looks really good. He was shooting a great percentage too until the Suns started doubling him. He's got a nice floater, a nice stepback three, and he can definitely create his own shot. He's not really a point guard, but he can play point in a pinch. I'd say while Lillard is a point guard with scoring tendencies, CJ is a shooting guard with point guard tendencies. He has good handles, he can drive pretty much at all, and his shot looks good.

My observations from seeing the game live..myers Leonard sucks. McCollum is gonna be good. Crabbe needs to be more aggressive...Barton hasn't got better..neither has freeland. Floyd mayweather left after the 1st quarter. Ime udoka is a really nice guy

Idk, I thought he was doing OK for running the point offensively with 4 other guys on the court with BBIQs that would make Travis Outlaw look good. It's hard to make plays for guys who just stand around and don't do anything intuitive out there, no hard cuts, no real off the ball movement outside of the few times they ran a set play for Crabbe to catch and shoot, and Allen was still looking shakey at that point.

TRob looked like he could be a decently smart player defensively and a hard worker on the glass but he just wasn't getting himself in a position to catch and finish. And Meyers and Joel still don't have much feel on either end of the court, although Meyers looked better on the boards.

I think not having Claver hurt, he's basically the only guy with any feel for getting himself open in a good spot, even if his jumper is broken. Hopefully Crabbe looks less deer in the headlights next game.

And Barton was so bad... Honestly Terrell Harris, the toss away contract we got along with Lopez should have a better chance of making this roster. Looked semi decent and he couldn't possibly be as reckless as Will.

What I got from this game:

CJ is the SGOTF -- has the skillset that meshes perfectly with Lillard. He is a SG.

Leonard, and I said this last year, is a 3-4 year project. A guy that is 7'1.5" 250ish lbs - he provides no presence inside the paint. None. With his "developing" jumper he could be in danger of turning into Bargnani.

Thomas has so much potential on the glass. I can see the Faried/Evans comparisons.

Barton looks like he's fresh out of HS. Tough to watch.

No surprise here. PG is the most difficult position to play. You either are one or you are not. As much as I loved BRoY I absolutely hated when they tried to make him one.

CJ can certainly get better at it, and it is OK to give him minutes there in summer league but as I predicted not having a real PG on the summer league roster would make everyone look bad.

Thanks Nate appreciate the little summary. Sounds like we could have a lethal backcourt in the future? It'll be interesting to see if CJ can fit in the starting lineup next to Dame or if he may be better suited as a 6th man for us.

You can blame VanillaGorilla for the loss. I couldn't watch the first half and we did well. VanillaGorilla told me how to watch the second half and we got killed.
