First off next year the Stienbrenner boys want the payroll down to 189M. Personally I think they're dreaming. This season it was 228M. Okay lets go step by step...

Between A-RoD (25M), Tex (22.5M), CC (23M), Cano (at least 20M) Jeter has a player option for 8M but will probably be closer to 10-12 with incentives. Ichiro (6.5). So just between those 6 players you're already looking at approx 108M.

Kuroda is one of many Yankee FAs. He makes 15M this year & I've no doubt the'll wave another one year contract in his face to keep him. So lets say he accepts 12M. So now we're at 120M.

FAs Youkilis, Rivera, & Pettitte will not be back. So if the Steinbrenner boys have there way that leaves 69M to fill out the other 18 players (team total 25) I know, some funny shit right?

Because now they have to decide on Granderson (13M in 2013), Hughes (7M in 2013), Logan & Robertson (3.1M each in 2013) Garner (2.8M in 2013) Overbay 1.2M Nix 1M & Stewart 1/2M. And then there's Wells due 21M in 2014 I don't know how much of that the Yankees have to pay. And this STILL doesn't fill out the entire roster.

So the bottom line here is even if the Bosses boys bring it up to 200M there's still not a whole lot (if any) to spend on FAs. The Yankees only hope is that A-Rod gets suspended while he's still on the DL. which I believe would relieve the Yankees of paying him until at least it goes through appeals.

Personally I let Granderson walk or use him to trade at the deadline. You have to resign both Robertson & Logan. I would also resign Gardner Overbay & Nix. Not so sure on Stewart.

I strongly feel they need to trade Cano for the reason that trying to get under the $189M while strapped to the big contracts they are already on the hook for, how can they sign him to what he wants? so as a result, TRADE him... This team needs to rebuild... I agree, sign Gardner and Robertson.... not sold on Logan... let Kuroda go, he is likely going to retire anyway...

You need that strong lefty out of the bull pen & Logan gives you that. Tex needs a backup & I feel overbay would be perfect & cheap. Nix is a nice utility guy to keep around to spell both Jeter & A-Rod. And do you know what the story is with Wells 21M contract? How much do the Yankees have to pick up on it?

I do not know the deal with Wells... I guess I can see Logan, but I don't want the bank to be broken on him... I would like to see what else is out there before we commit to Overbay... Nix again, don't break the bank....

ok... according to http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/al-east/new-york-yankees/ ... Wells was "acquired by NY Yankees in trade from LA Angels 3/24/13, with Angels paying $28.1M, Yankees $13.9M ($11.5M in 2013, $2.4M in 2014) of remaining $42M in salary "

Yes. I think they get to 189 mill next season pretty easily. A-rod's 25 mill will be gone for at least next season, pettite gone and his 12 mill, grandy not being resigned. Pitching staff will be cc, kiroda and 3 cheap pitchers(pineda, nova and phelps). Biggest decision is cano and if he demands more than 6 years trade him now and get what you can for him. Hopefully, guys like heathcott, mason and a few others down below can make the jump to the big club. Will not spend much money if any free agencywise next year except for bandaids like this year overbay, hafner etc. although if attendance(despite their assertions) and yes network ratings continue to plunge into oblivion I guess that might change

Who goes: Granderson, Hughes, Stewart, Suzuki, Chamberlain,Logan,
Pettitte, Rivera, Cano, Hafner, Wells, Nunez. Get as many prospects as possible..........
because the Yankee organization sure cannot pick good talent.
So, get somebody else's talent. Yankees need to unload a whole lotta money. How long do they think they'll put one over on any Yankee faithful?
