Michael Kay asked his opinion as to why he thinks attendance is down. And Cone seriously responded. "I believe Michael that its got a lot to do with the way tickets are sold. On line, by mail etc" No you moron it may be that they charge a months rent just to take your family to a game. and another $100.00 just for a few dogs & some refreshments.

As far as the Yankees attendance being down 5000 per game may have to do with the shity product you put on the field.

David Cone is playing ridiculous company man and Michael Kay should know better than to ask an absurd question like that on the air. If I cared enough I would call Kay on his ESPN show and ask him why he asks something he damn well knows the answer to.

The product on the field is complete crap and it's too expensive.

Even if the product was great its too damn expensive. And you left out the money for parking, tolls and gas. Lets see, take a family of 4 to a yankee game sitting in seats you don't need binoculars to see game action from or take same family of 4 to St. Maartens for a week vavacation. Kay has been a yankee schill for a long time and lives in fantasy island

There's very little justification in spending that amount of money to go see a sporting event. Being conservative to take a family of four you're looking at $60 x 4 which is $240. The parking at stadium lots is like $40 I believe so you're up to $280. Depending on where you're traveling come you might be talking about $25 in tolls and lets just say $15 for gas which might be low. In any event you're up to $320. Now add food and anything you buy your kids inside the stadium and you can seriously start approaching $500. That's just plain ridiculous.

That can't be right. David Cone didn't say anything about that.

!. Red Sox have higher average ticket prices than the Yanx.

    2. Attendance is down throughout Baseball.

    3. Yanx are still 2nd in Baseball attendance.

    4. Yanx attendance is not down 5000, it is down about 3500...which is still better than the Red Sox and the Rangers.

...The Boss didn't depend on the draft either...and he also had more than his fare share of horrible FA signings.

The problem are these ridiculously long contracts. Back in the day it was 4-5 years.

Kay & Cone were talking about all of baseball not just the Yankees. And yes they are 2nd in attendance but only because they've had more home dates. As far as average attendance they're 4th behind the Dodgers 44 per game, Cardinals & Giants 41 per game & then the Yankees 39 per game.

The Yankees average alone is down 4000 per game from last year at home & 2000 on the road.

...the point is that it has more to do with the economy in general than the product on the field or ticket prices. Like I said, the Sox have the highest prices in Baseball...and the Yanx home attendance is down an average of 3,508 from last year...which is still better than both the Sox and Rangers, both of which have put "better products on the field".

Oh I think its a combination of the economy, Ticket prices AND the product on the field. I think they all go hand in hand. But Cone's reason was just plain stupid. There's no other word for it. Saying the reason attendance is down because of the problems created by trying to get tickets through the mail or on line.

If A-Rod, Jeter, Granderson & Tiexiera played the whole season & we were 20 games over 500 attendance would be near equal to last season. Lets face it whether at home or on the road. Who the hell wants to see guys name Cruz, Romine, or Hafner? when you're paying $100 plus for a ticket?

Messiah you are right. It is not the contracts its the number of years. There is no way that once a player has established themselves for that type of paydays, that by year 10 they will be a rapid decline in skills leaving those organization with dead money on the payroll.

we went to the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders game this year and actually happened to get Jeter at one of the games... so much more fun than the Yankees game... anyway, I agree, its insanely expensive to go to a Yankees game...

... this country is headed towards socialism...call it what you want but that's what it is. Our government has become a "give away" government...and the ONLY way for the government to GIVE something to someone is to first take it from someone else.

...and the sorry bastards who won't work and who are using their EBT cards to buy groceries are eating much better than me...I see these fat free loaders every week in front of me in the checkout line...dressed to the hilt, fancy hair and nails, but eating free from the money the government takes from me.

... if I sound like a dissatisfied customer in regards to our government, it's only because I am.
