<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Celtics have reached agreement with Kendrick Perkins on a four-year contract extension, the Herald has learned today.

According to sources, the 6-10 center, just three years out of Clifton J. Ozen High School in Texas, will receive around $4 million per year beginning with the 2007-08 season, though incentives could enrich the deal.

It was reported here in July that director of basketball operations Danny Ainge had spoken with Perkins? agent to see if something along these lines could be worked out.

Perkins, 21 (he won?t be 22 until November 10), averaged 5.2 points and 5.9 rebounds in 68 games last season, getting a modest 19.6 minutes a night. He missed 13 games in February and March after suffering a dislocated left shoulder in practice and had surgery on the area in the offseason.

Perkins will make $1,689,409 this coming season - the last year of his rookie contract.</div>
Awesome! Glad to see they locked him up, and around $4M per year is a good price. I like it!

4 mill a year IS a very good price. I'm predi=cting a very good year out of him, and we all know that young talented centers always demand alot.

He's a good rebounder, defender, and shot blocker. He can hold up the post, but he wont give you points. Still, good signing. Im guessing he will be their go-to center for 06-07.

After seeing contracts big men have signed recently, I'd say 4 mil a year is a steal for the production we could potentially get out of the kid. Hi I'm yankshater213, and I approve of this extension.

I've been thinking about it, and Perk could get some very good numbers when given starters minutes. I mean, these are just projections, but here's what his stats would've looked like last year if given 35 mpg:9.1 ppg10.3 rpg2.7 bspgif he can stay out of foul trouble, expect him to be dangerous next year. my projected stats are 7 ppg, 10 rpg, 3 bspg.

For one, he's not going to get 35 mpg, not yet anyway. Also, he's not going to pull down 10 boards a night. I say 8 might be a tad too high, but Perk's intangibles and defensive presence are far more valuable than his rebounding stats. But again, I don't see 10 rpg.

I'd say that he has a good chance of being a Very Iimportants cog in thier defense. Ben Wallace and Dennis Rodman paved the way for big men to not score and start. I think he coulds easily get 10 -12rpg and 2-3 blks pg I'd Love him in seattle. Expect his next contracct to be much bigger!

He's a very important piece of the Celtics' youth movement. He's solid defensively, with a decent offensive game. Good job by Danny Ainge.

He's good defensively, a good rebounder, and <you>he makes excellent outlet passes</you>. That's an underrated intangible from Perk.

But he doesn't have a decent offensive game. The bulk of his points come off cleanup buckets. He has no go-to move, everything he does on the block is his little hook, which is not consistant yet. Again, he's improving offensively, but his offensive game is a little below average.

haha, not a bad quality. keeps this place active. I was looking through the stats today and I found out that the Boston Celtics section is #10 in terms of topics made. not bad for a team forum.

[IMG] Because a lot of the time people are wrong.

wolverine30 said Marcus Banks was a good passer... wrong
CB4 said Perk has a decent offensive game... wrong
RashadzMcCantz said Tony Allen had a "history" of problems with the law... wrong, only 1

Etc. There are a lot more. If I see something that is false, I will correct it.

Decent price. What I like about Perkins is he is actually making progress. He has progressed the most out of all the young C's. When he was out with his shoulder problem I saw him running the court before the game when I went and saw the C's play the Lakers. His conditioning has improved each season. He was out running Raef for whatever that is worth.

actually, rashadz was partly right on that legal problems thing. He used to be badly into narcodics and violence growing up. thank god eddie sutton straightened him out a little bit.

I stand corrected. But rashadz made TA sound like a bad guy, which he is not. I had to refute.

good for the celtics. He might be worth 4 mil right now but he will be worth ALOT more than that in the future if he keeps moving in the right direction.
