Louisiana WR & The Opening SPARQ testing champ Speedy Noil has listed Oregon in his top 5. Among other eye popping measurements, Speedy posted a 45.3" vertical jump STOMP
I fear distance may make Noil Unlikely. Hampton himself supposedly has joined in on this thread at 247, and there is a strong implication that he will barring any major sways most likely commit to Oregon with Offer/Visit.
Great to hear on Hampton. Grabbing him, Jelks, and Talia will settle our D-line for good. Great to hear on Noil, we need to impress big time. Maybe promise him or being a TZR. Who are the other 4 in Noil's top 5?
6'6 JC WR Nick Kurtz will be visiting in early August STOMP
247 oregon peeps have now switched their Van Dyke prediction to Oregon and away from stanford. I'm assuming because a Stanford offer must not be coming. If they are correct it would mean with Kurtz and van dyke we will be done at WR. Disappointing me somewhat in that it might hurt our position while going after players more likely to sign on signing day. Adoree, Noil, Rudolph. Though we could pitch the TZR positoin to Adoree, Noil, along with current target James. Though with Van Dyke there might be some concern that if Stanford does offer after he committed, he might flip his commit.
I don't think adding Alex Van Dyke and/or Kurtz to the class would have much of an effect on potentially signing the elite types you list. Oregon will almost definitely still have scholarships available so why would they pull the offer? I doubt that Noil, Adoree, etc would feel threatened by others in the class. Both Van Dyke & Kurtz are bigger possession types (Tuinei/Hawkins) and not home run threats and Oregon likes to mix and match those types on the field. STOMP
I think it's between us and BYU for Kurtz. That WR out of BYU that's getting draft buzz is being used as a recruiting pitch for him. AVD wouldn't hurt for a big WR. Granted, we grab all 3, I would be happy to settle for TJ. But grabbing Noil and cock blocking LSU is just too rich
Texas athlete Davion Hall is said to be reopening up his recruitment after committing early to Baylor and has expressed interest in UO a heads up that unless you like low grade gangster rap you may want to hit the mute on this youtube video STOMP
He's Baylor's best commit, they will do whatever it takes to keep him on board. But, having an athlete of that size is quite good. What position would he play?
I heard that too and thought it odd for the same reason...they're about the same size. The possibilities that sprung to mind were A) Oregon isn't full at DB but didn't want Lockett B) they are full at DB but have interest in playing John Plattenburg elsewhere. Of the two, I'd guess A STOMP
what would make you think Budda is afraid of competition? Whatever quality D1 program a player chooses to go they're going up against lots of solid players who'll be competing for the same snaps. Competition is a given btw... the Fuskies featured 5 DBs in their 2013 class and already have 3 for 2014. Oregon had 3 last year and 2 so far this year STOMP
He's 6'6" and 260 now, but only 16 years old. He'll likely be a RS his first year, but yet another tall line recruit. Whether he'll play OL or DL is yet to be determined.
heres a nice little write up on Jelks http://duckotherside.blogspot.com/2013/07/jalen-jelks-thoughts.html STOMP
I don't follow recruiting as much as some, so should I be concerned in any way that Oregon only has 9 commits so far? I know they normally close strong, but 9?
this time last year Oregon had 6 commits. Same time for the 2012 class they had 8... 2011, 7 feel better? STOMP
I've been following recruiting for close to a decade, and this is the best/earliest start to recruiting I can remember for the Ducks. Kids cant even take OV's yet which is something to keep in mind. So 9 commits without being a stones throw away from recruiting hotbeds like USC, Texas, Bama, LSU, Florida, are is actually quite remarkable.
