Rasta's just pissed because we got rid of one of his Euro stud muffins to get Robinson. Write the bum off after 3 Summer League games... Yawn. Predictable.
in all, I think there were some positives and negatives, as with any SL game. T-Rob looks like he can back up LaMarcus. there will be a battle for minutes behind Nico between Victor and Dorell. Wesley's starting job is safe. CJ will be exciting, but it will take some time. Dallas Lauderdale will not make the roster. Joel will be third string, either at pf or center. Meyers is developing; we all knew it would take some time. Will is about to lose the backup spot to the Crabbe. Earl Watson will play a decent amount of minutes at the point to start the season, and when Fropez is not playing or practicing, he'll be at Powell's Books reading. oh, and lastly, LaMarcus will not be traded this summer nor during the season.
One huge plus I saw from McCollum tonight was his rebounding. He reacts quick to the ball and is not shy about battling underneath.
That too in a game when he put up 12/18 in < 30mpg and led our comeback effort. Whatever it is, I'm stoked about TRob. Can't wait to bump this thread in May next year when he plays a key role in a playoff game for us.
With TRobs hustle & energy, he should become a fan favorite quickly at the Rose Garden. And I think when Portland shows him some love it'll be exactly what he needs, and his confidence will grow. Can't wait to see him comfortable and confident. I'm rooting for him.
Nice to see Robinson dominate once facet of a game. He's still got miles to go between here and even starter quality let alone star quality, but if you can snag rebounds at an elite rate and lay a mean pick or play some defense then there's a place in the league for those kinds of guys. I'm very curious to see what kind of conversations we're having about him a year from now.
Sure, it's summer league. But 18 boards? That still tells me he has a superior skill. No Blazer has ever had more than 14 until now. And how often does 18 even occur in SL?
I thought Claver was our best point guard and best overall player. McCollum was just throwing up junk from the first minute of the game. He's going to get a wake-up call when he starts playing with the big boys. You guys are too hard on Leonard.
can't believe the time wasted arguing about TROB, he has a ways to go but he at least showed us for ONE game that he does have legit potential, but that's ONE game. I am hopeful that is a sign of things to come and he will bring what he did last night to every game, if he does that he'll have a spot in POR, and if we are lucky some of the other aspects of his game will improve. Will be fun to watch.
For players who have actually played in all 3 games he's leading the league in rebounding at 12 RPG - that's not just one game.
Did anyone else notice about the overtime format? It's crazy that the second overtime was sudden death. That would be a quick quarter! Lol
