Fifty times the watch helped his neighborhood avoid trouble. On the 51st occasion, some kid who should have known there was a neighborhood watch, went Whoop Ass on him. Why? Why didn't his dad informed the kid on how to respect the neighborhood watch? Why? Why didn't dad inform the neighborhood watch his kid lived there? How can you be completely ignorant of a Neighborhood Watch program in your own neighborhood? It seems to me several adults failed the give this kid the knowledge he needed to survive. Worse yet, they failed to setup the environment for the kid so that he could be successful. There is no good reason the neighborhood watch would not know the people in the neighborhood. There is no good reason that anyone in the neighborhood should be surprise by seeing the neighborhood watch. There is no reason at all that any resident should go Whoop Ass on their Watch, even if he does look like a creepy ass Cracker.
We have no uniforms nor do we have a badge in my neighborhood, but we do have a Neighborhood Watch program.
I think the whole thing is a tragedy. Everyone's life is ruined, and a young man's life ended. My beef is this incident became political when it should have just been sad. I don't like race hustling, no matter the group being riled.
Nobody leads a board exodus. They just happen. With the race-baiting President we have now, and LIVs who blindly accept what he says, it will happen soon enough.
How do you feel about Holder pandering to you guys Denny. He whines about the SYG laws but that belongs to the States. And he promises to look into civil rights violations, but again just pander noise. The FBI already spent a friggin year trying to hang Zimmerman with that noose. Don't you feel a little used when you hear this sorry specimen of leadership tug on the heart strings one more time?
If Obama were to be responsible for driving all the right wingers from this board, I might regret not voting for him.
A similar case already happened in 2009 under Obama, only the 'races' were reversed. I say 'races', because Zimmerman is half-Hispanic. Where are the marches for Chris Cervini? One big difference is that Scott was never touched by Cervini, though.
I think Holder is saying what the national District Attorneys Association is saying about the laws. He's doing his job. As far as the open investigation, I don't know anyone who thinks it is going to result in anything substantial. It's really hard to prove there was any outright racist or hate intent. The most I think you can say is that Zimmerman saw Martin as "suspicious" because he was black and wearing a hoodie, and that is a problem. At the very least, nobody will be able to say they didn't give it every opportunity. I'm no fan of this administration, and I think Holder should resign for lying to congress. On the other hand, the congressional black caucus came out yesterday with a proposed bill that I think makes sense. I wonder what parts of it you would oppose: 1. Law enforcement agents to be prohibited from racial profiling. This does not mean they can't be on the lookout for a black male if they've got a report of a black male committed a crime recently. 2. Overturn stand your ground laws. 3. Better training for neighborhood watch volunteers.
