Jeter has been the face of MLB for a long time now. The rare combination of success, class and leadership. After seeing that segment on Andrew McCutchen, he appears to be the real deal, loves baseball, and a character to boot. Kind of refreshing in this day and age.

It is indeed a rare thing to find those qualities. Its an amazing thing that to date I've NEVER heard a negative thing about the man. His parents must be very proud.

The only thing though... Championships... I just don't see an heir Jeter... If Pujols stayed in St. Louis, maybe... but he has also declined... I think Andrew McCutchen is classy and talented... but the face of baseball? I don't think so...

If Pittsburgh does anything in the post season, and continues the success over the next few years as they are positioned to do, thing change, It took Jeter about 12 years before he attained such accolades, McCutchen is in is ?5th year I'm guessing.

I just don't see him getting the accolates that Jeter gets without winning at least 1 championship... let alone 5...

McCutcheon is a class ballplayer. It took Jetes several years to attain his stature.
In time, and a couple championships, McCutcheon should very well attain the same recognition.
Look at Ernie Banks, the outstanding SS of the Cubbies; never won any
championships but was a class ballplayer that other ballplayers respected.

I'm not saying he isn't classy... I'm not saying other players won't respect him... I'm saying that I don't see him being the face of baseball without the championships...
