To my friends at S2

I thought I would explain what happened last night, why I deleted posts and address some of the complaints and concerns I've received the last couple of weeks.

Last night I was sitting on the couch with my gf watching a movie when I got text message saying things were "spiraling out of control" in the forum concerning Kass and I needed to do something about it. So I logged into S2 and found the thread in question and after quickly scanning the posts I decided to delete them rather than edit them. This decision was made more from a want to get back to my gf and movie then it was to try and for lack of a better term properly moderate the problem in the thread. In other words I was looking to put this fire out as quickly as possible so I could get back to what I want to do.

In scanning the posts I made the decision to delete them for the following reasons, this argument between Kass and Maxiep had finally settled down. 5 1/2 hours later suddenly Kass is firing it up again. Starting off a post by calling someone a name is not an innocent post about "the truth". Maxie responds by calling her a liar, yadda... yadda... yadda... now they're trading insults and shit is fired up again. The quickest way to end this was to delete all of it.

I completely admit that I could have handled this differently and hopefully better. Maybe I should have gone in line by line and edited posts that were insulting others so instead they were insulting me. Maybe but I had already done in other threads between these two. I have also talked to the people involved in this via PM many times asking them to stop these arguments. Also other mods have talked to them publicly and via PM asking to stop this. I'm also reading posts and getting PM's from other members asking why I'm allowing these arguments to go on and why aren't I doing anything about it.

Talking to members privately wasn't working and editing posts wasn't working so this time I tried something different and that was deleting posts. That decision has caused accusations of not being fair in how I moderate and a person who now wants to leave which that tells me that I most likely made the wrong decision.

Now, concerning the Kass situation and her being or not being who she says she is. Some people are already aware of this and have hinted about it so I see no reason to keep it from the rest of you. She hasn't used any of them here and I don't honestly know what other sites she may have used them at if at all. But even if she has used them previously at other sites does that mean that she is lying about being a girl or even about where she goes to school? I don't feel comfortable making that jump. Not publicly posting your picture on an internet forum isn't enough IMO to brand someone a liar. More than one of you via PM have said that I should demand she write "Hi Sly" on a piece of paper and take a picture of herself and email it to me. While that is creative and would work I'm not sure if that is a standard we want to set for new members and honestly that would come off as pretty creepy if I were to request that of her.

Also some of you have claimed she is lying about going to Stanford because she posted she was pre-law. Again I'm just not seeing that as some big "gotcha!" moment that she is lying. I've known people who said they were pre-law or pre-med. I never took that to mean that they actually thought they were getting a diploma with "Pre-Law" or Pre-Med" on it.

I did make the concerns that some of you had about Kass not being who she said she was to Denny and the staff here at the Blazer forum. But I also told them what I knew about her and that is she is an avid basketball blogger, that she has won a couple of Blazer sponsored fan blogging contests and is one of the most active Blazer fans on twitter.

I look at it as even if the worst case scenario she is really some 300lb guy sitting in his parents basement pretending to be a girl that goes to Stanford I don't have a problem with it. The worst thing that I could see coming from it is if one of you start trying to cyber with her in private and start sending her money. But if that happens that's your dumb fault and is not mine or this forum's responsibility to prevent it from happening. Is it "Lenney's" fault for getting Mante Tao to fall in love with her or is it Mante Tao's fault for not figuring out that it wasn't a normal relationship?

Now to address some of your other complaints and concerns:

"uneven moderation" - You are all absolutely correct. The moderation of this forum has been and always will be uneven. The biggest reason for this is I don't read all of the threads or posts made on here. It is almost impossible to and would take up a huge about of time if I did try. I read the shit that I am interested in first. I always have and I always will. Reading pages and pages of LMA trade ideas, global warming arguments and Zimmerman trial debates kinda gets boring. Since I don't read everything I miss things. I sorry that happens. That doesn't mean I'm playing favorites or am allowing some people to get away with things and others I'm not. It just means that for one reason or an other I've missed the argument or offending post(s).

If there is something you want me to look at and or correct please send me a PM with a link to the page of posts you are talking about. I will look at them as soon as I can (even if it means getting up from the couch when I'm watching a movie with the gf, lol.)

If I don't immediately fix, edit or delete the post you are upset over please try not to get upset over it and PM me hateful things. Swear to god I once had someone on this forum get pissed because I didn't immediately delete an Oden penis picture when it was posted at 4am on the forum. They PM'd me about it at 4:04am telling me to remove it and then they PM'd me again at 4:13am pissed off that it was still on there, that I'm a piece of shit for not deleting it and that they are leaving S2 because of this. I will always try to act quickly on your concerns but giving me 9mins to respond to something when I am deep a sleep isn't practical.

"Posts should never be deleted" - For the most part I agree. In the past before I was a mod I FUCKING HATED WHEN SOME STUPID MOD DELETED MY POSTS! That's why when I became a mod I always try and edit them in some sort of goofy or friendly way first. I understand sometimes people get pissed off and need to vent. And honestly editing instead of deleting does seem to work. But there is that rare time when a couple of you will be going at it so furiously that you don't even realize that I'm coming in behind you and editing your posts. You're just trading post and post of insults with each other and it is then when I just delete them as fast as you post them and that does seem to end the arguments.

Finally, I honestly try and be as fair as I can when I'm being a moderator. I have always felt that S2 is more of a community than just another random sports forum. I've met some great people from here over the years. Some I'm lucky to now call friends. I make mistakes all the time in how I attempt to moderate this forum and when I do please feel free to call me out it. It's not my intention to upset you or tell you what to do. A lot of times when I PM you it's because others have PM'd me with concerns or complaints.

Anyway, I hope this clears up somethings and ends some of the problems.
