LoHud reports Braun suspended for the rest of the season We’ll have some pregame notes in a bit, but right now, here’s the story of the day. Ryan Braun has acknowledged his use of performance enhancing drugs and been suspended for the rest of the season. Could have massive implications for Alex Rodriguez if the league has similar evidence against him. Here’s the announcement from the league. Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig announced today that Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun has been suspended without pay for the remainder of the 2013 Championship Season and Postseason for violations of the Basic Agreement and its Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. The suspension of Braun is effective immediately. Ryan Braun said: “As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect. I realize now that I have made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions. This situation has taken a toll on me and my entire family, and it is has been a distraction to my teammates and the Brewers organization. I am very grateful for the support I have received from players, ownership and the fans in Milwaukee and around the country. Finally, I wish to apologize to anyone I may have disappointed – all of the baseball fans especially those in Milwaukee, the great Brewers organization, and my teammates. I am glad to have this matter behind me once and for all, and I cannot wait to get back to the game I love.” “We commend Ryan Braun for taking responsibility for his past actions,” said Rob Manfred, Executive Vice President, Economics & League Affairs for Major League Baseball. “We all agree that it is in the best interests of the game to resolve this matter. When Ryan returns, we look forward to him making positive contributions to Major League Baseball, both on and off the field.”
I feel if Arod had any hope, he should have been the first one, this takes away some of his tactics, the beginning of the end. He may never play in a Yankee uniform again. The year would not be all bad then.
Yeah lets commend him for that farce of an appeal and that self righteous press conference he held afterwards. The only reason he's doing this now is because the evidence against him was clearly undisputable.
And that is the truth. Now I can't wait for that poor collector who got vilified to sue him in Civil Court for deformation of character and the likes cause now he has admitted the usage, his defense will be "I wasn't then but I did now" lol!
I was thinking the exact same thing. COMMEND HIM!......commend him my ass. Now they should give the phonies MVP award to whoever the runner up was.
...no appeal by Braun either....ARod is toast. We will never have to seem him in pinstripes again. ...I think I'm gonna do a couple shots of Patron.
...and oh, Braun?...fuck you too. ...as well of the rest of the cheats...I think without actually coming out and saying it, the Union is going to back MLB on the suspensions...good for them...'bout time they took a stand..."for the good of the game".
Agreed 59 f u, braun. A little disappointed in length of suspension as sounds like suspension equates to about 60 to 70 games or so. MLB should have made him admit to last years ped case he slimed out of also so would have 2 strikes and next one out for life. Hope guy who collected his illegal piss last year sues the shit out oh him
Here is our opportunity, a toast, Good bye Arod, you piece of shit, Good luck collecting on the insurance money!!!
Let him accept the penalty and look to 2014. I hate giving up, and I'm not, but with every night like last night (Red Soxs), this season is slipping away.
Don't forget Braun lying again earlier this year when he said his connection with Biogen was because his lawyers had consulted them in relation to his appeal.
IMO Braun's suspension should be longer. He avoided the 50 game suspension last year because of his bullshit. And now he's being tired into this new thing.
He without a doubt deserves a longer suspension. What would be an interesting fact to know is whether or not he was receiving PEDS from the clinic after that failed test fiasco. If he was than MLB clearly dropped the ball.
from what I understand, the evidence against A-Rod is more substantial than what they had on Braun...
