So for his laughing in the face of baseball last season & now being attached to this bio place, we're only talking about approx 60 games. What kind of shit is that. Melky did his 50 last season & will probably get another 100 for his connection to the biogenics labs. And Braun gets 50. Wait he plays for the Brewers. Seligs team. Oh now I get it.
...^^^...but the thing is, by Braun not appealing, it is admission of guilt, which by extension, gives even more credibility to Bosch and the evidence compiled against the other players who will also be suspended. So in a way, Braun is actually helping to bolster MLB's position in this whole thing. ...also remember, ARod also tried to interfere with the investigation by buying documents from Biogenesis. That is a separate offense and will add to the number of days he is suspended. ARod's problems are just beginning. ...hell, I wouldn't be surprised that they try to suspended him for life.
I think Arod ends up taking a deal for about 150 games. The rest of this year and the first half of next year. He then tries to get back, claims injury and the inability to play any longer and lets insurance pick up the remainder of his deal.
At least the Yankees are getting by this year without players in this mess on the field, other teams are winning games with players on the list, and let's be real, this list is just what's been exposed, the real list would include a lot of players we're not hearing about, most notably on the Red Sox.
Really is amazing how the sox seem to avoid these lists all the time. Either they are the cleanest team in baseball, or they are doing a much better job of hiding this stuff. Of course Manny and Ortiz were both zinged. Manny was disassociated with teh sox, and Ortiz was given a universal pass by every media outlet in the world with no real explaination as to why his BS excuses were any better than anyone elses.
Braun just really doesn't lose all that much here. He's still at the low end of his contract. Only making $8 million this year so how much does he really miss out on? He has seven more years as his huge extension kicks in for the really big money. I'm sorry but this is just a joke outside of the fact that he admits to wrong doing and deals with some embarrassment.
^^^like I said earlier, I think more than anything else, Braun's capitulation pretty much solidifies MLB's their stance and gives more merit to the evidence they have on the others. ...yeah, in a way he's getting off easy but he's actually helping MLB by waving the white flag. ...also, he made a comment yesterday that he "is putting this behind him". If he truly believes that is the case, he's a bigger fool than I gave him credit for. His reputation and credibility have been permanently disfigured. He will be loudly booed in every ball park he visits and probably will in Milwaukee too. And you also have to wonder how good of a player he'll be in the future without the aid of his "vitamins". ...the saga for all of these cheats is just beginning...and I hope every last one of them gets their just deserts.
What will be real interesting is that Braun is now in his prime and it will be great to be able to compare his stats next year to those of his MVP and recent years. What % of production will he decline at.
I was thinking the same thing earlier. It will be interesting to see how a guy like Braun performs for the remainder of his career. I think he will still be very good but I doubt we see him hitting forty homers a year.
I wonder from a medical side of the issue, that if you were habitual with your use in order to obtain peak athletic performance that when you no longer can continue that regiment if your body reacts and you become more susceptible to injuries down the road after not having these fixes available for your body?
I saw the news yesterday and posted it in the NL Central. Wow, that is a huge penalty. MLB is serious.
