they are role known players, well Pyatt anyway..no reason to bring back Zucc if you think Miller or Fast can be a 3rd liner
Except that once we tendered him as an RFA and he filed for arbitration, if my understanding of the CBA is correct he is guaranteed to be back at whatever price the arbitrator puts on him because no way he gets the walk away amount of $3.5m or higher. If we didn't want him he shouldn't have been tendered. Either we sign him before his hearing or the arbitrator puts a price on him. Either way he's guaranteed to be back minus a trade.
What the Rangers oversigning people again?Shocking!lol They always block rookies by giving guys they don't need an extra year.
What Sather has done this summer was to strengthen the minor league team. He's fiddling with these journeymen skaters......and again the Rangers will be a middle-of-the-pack hockey team. I do not like it one bit.
Well, I do think they needed to strengthen the minor league team a lot because they could have up to 5 to 8 legit prospects playing for the whale this year. Being on a crappy team isn't good for their development. However, I have no idea what this fascination with Zucc is. I would much rather see Lindberg or Kristo making the team. Miller, I'm fine with him letting him play another 60 games at the AHL level to round out his game. Same with Fast who needs to put on at least 20 pounds. Of course, we do need to give Sather the pre-season. Maybe he will be blown away by Lindberg and Kirsto and then quickly deal off Pyatt and Zucc.
And remember, we're down 2 of our top 6 wingers for probably the entire 9 game road trip to start the season. When we get to full strength maybe you'll see the extra wingers dealt off then. Zucc is probably starting the year as our 3rd winger like it or not. Better him than an unknown I guess for two reasons: you don't want to put that kind of pressure on the kids so early, and you don't want to fall into a hole with a trip that long
I don't get the whole Zucc fascination either. Sure, he's crafty and has some skills, but he's never ever struck me as NHL caliber. Not in his first stint, or his second. He's always seemed like a good player to sub in for a night here and there when someone goes down with an injury that's short term, but anything after that and it seems like his bag of tricks is empty.
