Put your best plan for the future forward. You can start with what you would like to see on the field next year or what you would ultimately would like to see.
Sell now. Dont care about 2013 or even 2014. Get a new GM, one that is capable of fixing the player development issues and one with more creativity in trade construction than the last one. I am not sure Oppenheimer is that guy. You might have to look outsie the org.
OK, have fun with this. Fire Cashman, replace with anyone not already inside the organization. Try to bring Towers back from SD, or better yet Beane Start the fire sale now, Trade Cano to Cardinals or Rangers for high level, major league ready current or close to ready starters. I don't want a guy who loafs running to first heading my rebuilding project. Freeze 3B, Carpenter 2B and pitcher Lynn? Avoids long term contract and saves money Keep Hughes and tender offer with hopes he signs elsewhere and get draft compensation for him. Off Season sign McCann to FA contract. Resign Granderson at discount for one year if possible Resign Overbay to back up Tex on the cheap resign Nix for worst case 2B 2014. Hope that Arod is banished for ever, no control over this! Trade Joba for left handed reliever Major Wish is to try to acquire Ryan Howard for DH in salary dump by Phillies. (Not counting on it but Ortiz like in Yankee Stadium!) Team looks like this going into 2014 Catchers Choice of McCann, Cervelli, Stewart, Romine Firstbase Tex and Overbay Second Base Carpenter acquired from Cardinals for Cano and Nix Shortstop Jeter and Nunez Thirdbase Freeze from Cardinals Outfield[/U] Gardner Suzuki Granderson Almonte 4th Outfielder, Switch hitter Soriano DH Pitchers Choices from Kuroda if he stays CC Nova Pineda Hughes Phelps Warren or addition from Cardinal trade Nuno Depth Relief/ choices from Logan Another left handed reliever from Joba trade Kelley Clairborne Robertson Betances and throughout the year up and down from Minors Banoules, Flores, Marshall, Turley
One thing that looks certain is that Gary Sanchez is the catcher of the future. He's 20 years old and certainly looks like he can hit. His catching is a little suspect so we might have another Jorge Posada on our hands. That being said we certainly learned that isn't a bad thing if your offense is well above average out of the catcher spot. Not to mention I certainly can see somebody getting much better defensively.
Okay, I'll play. But before I get to next year, let me tell you how I'd close out this year. We're not going anywhere this year so let the kids play. We've already got Neal & Mesa up here not lets see what they've got. We've also got a few good catchers like Gary Sanchez, J.R. Murphy & Peter O'Brien. There's a pretty good 1st baseman playing for Charleston by the name of Gregory Bird 15/66/289. And a few half way decent pitchers like Dellin Betances, Rafael DePaula, Scottie Allen & Dietrich Enns. Now as far as next year. Here's my opening day lineup............... 1) Bret Gardner (CF) 2) Derek Jeter (SS) 3) Robinson Cano (2B) 4) Kendrys Morales (DH) 5) Mark Teixeira (1B) 6) Alex Rodriquez (3B) if suspended Arimis Ramirez 7) Shin Sinn Choo (RF) 8) Brian McCann (C) 9) Ichiro Suzuki (LF) Starters = Nova, CC, Pinera, Kuroda & Phelps. CLOSER = Kelly or Robertson.
Best case scenario though not likely to happen would be for the Steinbrenners telling Cashman to write a letter of resignation in lieu of being fired.
I was joking that you didn't understand my original response as to how the thread kept going to the top.
...I understand it was a joke, rick. What I don't understand is the "sticky" thing which is why I asked the question in the first place.
I'm not familiar with the term sticky. What does it mean? Never mind, I got it now the thread was sticking to the top of the board. Yeah that is strange. I thought it was just because posters were responding to it.
...I think you probably have to be a "mod" to be able to do that "sticky" thing...course, you always thought you were better than other peeps.
