I really can't stand the guy anymore. The constant lazy lack of hustle is a disgrace. Plus, in case anybody missed it this is not guy hitting well over .300. He needed a red hot finish to get over .300 last year and then was a complete disgrace in the post season. Things are bad enough this season without watching this guy jog to every base and act completely uninterested.

I've got to agree. I just can't understand how NO ONE has said anything to him. 30-40 years ago he'd have been chewed up & spit out.

He is the best second baseman in baseball, but he doesn't appear to be the leader we need for the next generation of Yankees teams that will follow this one in 2015. Get a shitload of talent for him and move on. Build this team to compete in 2015. Hal saves his money that can be spent in other ways to aid the rebuilding process. I don't want to see anymore of infield hits by Suzuki, I don;t want to see Stewart up in the bottom of the 9th leading off and a 2-0 count swing, hell I don't want to see Nunez and his hands of stone in the field. I don;t want to see Vernon Wells go 0 for the summer. I don;t need to see Lyle Overbay anymore, and did I mention Hafner, should I have to, and while we are at it, Take CC to the Pizza parlor and don't let him out till he hits 300lbs according to David Cone. Oh and build a shrine to Mo for being the best ever at what he does. Tender Hughes, if he signs trade him next deadline, if he doesn't pick wisely. Keep Nova. and Phelps and pray that Pineda is real, Add 2 lefties in the pen not named Logan

A guy like Cano should be a leader but he's never going to change. He has been able to get away with it for too long. I'm surprised guys like Jeter and Mo have put up with it.

I feel its gotten more out of hand this year because the leadership presence in the dugout and locker room has not been there. When you take Tex, Grandy Jeter, and for that matter Cervelli because he is emotional and vocal out of the atmosphere, by default Cano becomes BMOC...With that said and the way he played as a player, I just can't believe Girardi hasn't spoken to him and it begs to ask the question, is Cano such a diva that he just tunes Girardi out.

I really don't care about that stuff. What I do care about is another horrible contract, repeating those same mistakes. But they have no farm to speak of thanks to Cashman, so expect another 8-10 year contract to deal with soon.

It still comes down to this question. As good as he is does it make more sense to try and get a couple of $12 to $15 million dollar players or one $25-$30 million player? Look around baseball and determine what you think is a better option for a team.

    Answer.................................................N E V E R!

It's no wonder the guy never gets hurt.

So let me get this straight. You would have more respect for Cano if he was always throwing his body around, always busting it 150% down the basepaths, and running (no pun intended) the risk of getting injured far more often?

This guy being, you know, the best position on the player team without any competition from his 'mates. I find that to be such a halcyon-laden concept that has little application in today's baseball world. The vast majority of the players around do not always bust it 150% on routine ground balls, and you know why? Because routine ground balls, 95 times out 100, minimum, will be turned into outs REGARDLESS of how fast you run (at least, as fast as Robbie runs, which isn't very fast). You like someone like Pedroia more, I take it, but Pedroia is either out of the lineup hurt or constantly playing through injuries, like he has the entirety of this season (torn thumb ligament, I believe).

It's an absolute saving grace to the Yankees that Cano has been in the lineup all season long. I shutter to think that, gee whiz, he pops a hammy trying to run out a routine ground ball, and then he's gone for two months. What the HELL would this lineup look like then?

SA. you have a point, however if you have played the game at any level, there exist what could be called A Baseball's 10 Commandments. One of which is hustle, Cano smooth, almost non engaged approached can sometimes lead people to believe he is not into the game. But where the problem exist is here. You can't have your best player showing the rest of the team that you don't have to hustle. I don't question his will to win. But I do question his ability to take the baton from Jeter and become the face of this franchise. I don't feel that we should give a 8-10 year contract or spend 200 when we are going to be terrible for the next 2 years. The Farm help is at least 2 years away, there are no free agents worth the money. When are we going to come to the realization that this organization is broken. That we aren't going to win a damn thing this year and what, best case first round playoff loss.

When you bust it out of the box on a ground you ALWAYS have to think that the infielder is going to bobble it. Or that he may make a wild throw because your HUSTLE is forcing him to hurry the throw. If you're on 1st base with less then two outs & a ground ball is hit to an infielder, you need to HUSTLE (there's that word again) to 2nd base in hopes that you break up the double play. These two examples I just mentioned is what you do if you're a TEAM player.

I hope this clears up your confusion.
