Free agent forward Josh Childress is receiving strong interest from three teams on a potential veteran’s minimum deal, a league source told RealGM. Childress has focused his career on the NBA, and he rejected a lucrative offer from Olympiacos this offseason for an opportunity to stay in the league, a source said. At 6-foot-8, Childress established himself as an active defender and slasher in four years with the Atlanta Hawks, but he averaged just one point in 14 games for the Brooklyn Nets last season. The Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings are known as firm suitors for wing free agents. Childress, 30, has averaged 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds over seven NBA seasons.
That guy went from a decent player to worthless in very short order. He was never the same after he left and went to Greece.
Well I kind of question if he ever really got a fair chance with a good team that fits his needs. He would come cheap and besides what do the Blazers really have to lose? This would be low risk high reword if you really think about it.
it's not low risk high reward. The reward is not high with him at all. There's minimal reward. No interest.
With Batum, Wes, Wright, TRob I don't see much use for him. I'd rather have him instead of Crabbe or Barton if an injury pops up so it would be nice to get him on the team but only if he is a good trooper with DNPs.
I'm really curious what some of you expect of this team, and why players like Childress are appealing to you at this stage of our franchise.
It means that he would come cheap and the Blazers would have nothing to lose. If the 2.5 mill isn't used for a trade, What other free agent is out there that's going to make a huge difference anyway? And that my friends is called "Low risk, High reword."
