He's going through negotiations right now and he's asking for $10 million a season and the Suns are not liking it at all. Do you think he's worth a Nene type contract?
god damn it. this is exactly what is wrong with the nba. why does every role player think they deserve all-star money? this is what hurts chemistry. See, Sprewell a few years ago with the T-Wolves.

Do you think he's worth a Nene type contract?</div> First of all, Nene wasn't worth his contract either. As a matter of fact, almost every professional athlete is overpaid, but that's besides the point because there is nothing we can do about the money these guys get. But based on our financial standards for an NBA player - $10M per year for Diaw is pushing it. I say $7M or $7.5M is fair for him. He can definitely be a star in this league, but I think until he proves himself and makes an All-Star team once or twice, he shouldn't push for $10M or higher. Next contract, if he pans out, yes. But as of right now, no.
Thanks to the Nuggets and his performance for France it really screwed us up. I think 8 million is fair, I'd even give him 9. 10 is a lot but I have high expectations for the guy. He will improve. It was just great to see how much better he got during the season. Once he works a little more on D and gets a consistent mid-range shot he will be dangerous.
Thats not a good comparison. Nene got overpaid by like 5 million dollars a year. But no, he is not worth 10 million a year. He is not needed as much now that Amare is back so his numbers are going to be alot lower. He should get around 6 million a year IMO.
His numbers won't be any lower. He'll get plenty of playing time. About 25 backing up the center position and more since he can be put at any position. He is still important and I'd hate to lose him. I'd rather lock him up now. They can't get lucky again like they did with JJ.
of course his numbers are going to go down. Amare is back for he will not get as many minutes. I dont understand how you can even argue that. Also, the reason he got alot of minutes at the center spot is because Kurt Thomas was out also. I dont even think that Boris will get the start this year. He definitely isnt going to get 6 boards AND 6 assists. 13 ppg might be possible though...
Kurt is at center and Diaw will back him up and get plenty of minutes. They'll split and Diaw may even get more even though Kurt will start and Diaw will back up other positions sometimes as well. Having Amare there won't hurt assist numbers and his ppg will go up. I can see him getting 35 minutes again. He's an important part of the team and he won't be on the bench for long. Amare will not get a large amount of minutes and will not play Diaw's position. Why was this moved? Argh!

Argh! </div>35 minutes is way too much for a guy that wont be starting. there is no player in the league that gets that much. (well none that I know of). And during this season, he played several different positions so by Amare coming back, he will lose minutes at PF spot. Now, Marion will be playing his natural position at the SF spot and he will be taking up alot of minutes at that spot. And since Kurt Thomas is heatlhy, he wont be playing ANY minutes at the center spot. When Thomas goes out, Amare will be playing the center spot. His numbers are going to go down due to the fact of playing time. Thats just how things work...
Amare will not play the center spot. He hates it and gets what he want. With his knee he won't be getting 40 mpg this year. Diaw is the main back-up at center. And will be sharing time with Jumaine Jones and Marion at the other two forward spots so he will get time there. I see at least 30 minutes from him.
Who cares if Amare hates it...he will still play it considering he has alot of advantages on them. Even if Diaw is a back up at a couple spots, it is going to be very hard for him to get consistent playing time night in and night out. I see him getting around 25 mpg. And he is not going to be able to put up 13 ppg, 6 apg, and 6 rpg in that amount of time.
Amare won't be getting the minutes he did 2 years ago and he's better at PF. That's why we brought in Kurt. Diaw is best for us at center and he also causes problems for the defense because of his quickness and he's also learned to throw it down(rofl @ Dirk). They both cause problems for big men so imagine both in the front court together...yeah. And Amare doesen't have to play center to get favorable match-ups while we're in the offense... It's not like he's attached to one guy. Amare will get about 30-35 minutes all at PF. Diaw will back up all 3 front court positions and get some time at guard. He is very good player for us and will get starter minutes off the bench. Also, Diaw will keep on improving. He improved greatly as the season went on last year and he will be better this season than he was in the last. I can easily see him getting the same numbers.
