The Rangers website caught up with Marc Staal and while his eye injury or his vision are not directly mentioned, Staal described his summer as “normal” and not like previous summers where he has been banged up or dealing with concussion issues. Staal said that he is “completely healthy” and has been working out and skating in preparation for training camp. He said on breakup day, “once everything settles down and I get comfortable with it I will never have to be asked about it again. I think time is going to help things get adjusted, the issues and the pressure I was having will go away. The puck caused a tear in the eye and the pressure would spike and dip and I would get disoriented and the eye would cramp up. I couldn’t get through practice, let alone a game.”
Amazing we have fans that are so dumb they don't realize how good Staal is. The defense was crap without him.
That's great to hear, and you'd have to think just 3 months extra of healing time should get his eyesight as close as it'll get to 100%.
the question is..what will flying do to his eye with the compression and decompression... enjoy the offseason Marc..once you get back its go time
staal and mcdonagh are our top 2 d-men. staal has a mean streak that we sorely need back there. a healthy Staal against Boston would have extended that series to 7 games in my opinion
Marc is surely a key player in determining how far we go this year, hope he has a healthy season. Welcome back Marc!
I guess Pasta couldn't figure out that when Staal wasn't playing, the crease in front of Hank was open more than a 7-11.
Came across this article today. I definately wouldn't trade him to Calgary who's got nothing to offer in return. Not that I'd trade him this year anyways..next summer perhaps. http://flamesnation.ca/2013/7/31/should-the-flames-pursue-marc-staal
Everything that person said in the article was wrong. He knows nothing about any Rangers player or the team. The Flames suck for a reason. Their GM, scouts, coaches and fans have no clue how to evaluate talent. Stepan will easily be signed. The Rangers have one of the best cap guy in sports working for them. They never lose players to the cap when they want to keep them.
I know, and it's crazy to think that they'd get rid of Staal over 1.5 in cap space, which they could easily maneuver to keep someone like him. Gee, I don't know, how about they finally cut ties with Boyle??
Wow that article made zero sense. I love when that author mentions Staal could "slide in to Calgary and be their 3rd or 4th best defenseman..." Uh, they have 3 defensemen better than Marc Staal? LOL
Every defenseman Calgary has completely sucks compared to Staal. It's amazing that an organization with such a lousy team has so many cocky morons in the media.
