And what I mean by that and it is proven on messages boards daily is the culture the Yankees have created for their fan base. Because of several reasons, ie., Market, TV Revenue, etc., the Yankees always have to operate in the now. Fans say they would, but a large majority have not had the privilege of experiencing the Jerry Kenney, Horace Clarke type years. The run the Yankees have endured over the 15 years is practically impossible to achieve in this day of free agency, luxury tax, and the likes. All this was achieved due to the extraordinary timing of Jeter, Posada, Pettitte, Mo, Williams combined with key acquisitions like O'niell, Tex, Arod, Broisius, Moose, El-Duque, etc, "starting to get the point". The core was young, extremely talented, as were the trades that added the missing ingredients each year. It is become harder and harder to be a now team when there is no core of talented youth or talented acquisitions on this 2013 team who's name isn't Kuroda. So bite the bullet and rebuild totally, or be that team for awhile that overs around the Wild Card games level of achievement. Romine is, not Posada, Nunez is not Jeter, Hughes is not Moose, and to spite the Yankee propaganda department, deal with the realities. Bring Sanchez up, really?

Well remember the CBS Yankees, let the farm dry up and the team age into oblivion and we saw it coming when the Yankees were swept in '63 and lost in '64. Back in the Nineties a contractor friend (Astros Fan ) used to get me into Spring Training games. I saw Jeter, Pettitte, Mo, Posada and the like coming up. Ditto the INTELLIGENT trades and free agency signings. As much as I like the Yankees to win I'd rater see them drop back, acquire some savvy in player acquisitions and come back for another nice run. They have the money, and time, and must make changes starting at the head to succeed.

So you want to have this NOW team make a playoff run with more retreads, as if many of the retreads offensive production has been solid to date. I guess after watching a 108 games with guys like Stewart, Nix, Cruz, Francisco, Brignac - there is some comfort level with going with "known" quantities as opposed to some kids that might actually show something. The only thing "known" about those aforementioned guys is that they svck, have svcked for pretty much the whole time they were here, and bringing in more ain't gonna solve the problem.

Guys like Almonte, Mesa have actually done respectable jobs in the time they've been up - why would you hand that job over to another 35 year old DFA loser hitting .200. Playing it safe and signing more retreads to drag the team across the playoff finish line WILL NOT WORK. Those guys are stale, limited, and have no upside.

No Vette, I want a total rebuild that we will never see because of being a NOW team. However, with that said, Sanchez is a year away, the jump is unrealistic in my opinion, however if you look at the majority of my post I am always pumping Kids over the Hafner and the Wells. I am one with Granderson back wanted to keep Mesa up, I love that Almonte was up, on the ESPN board I thought he should have been given the shot out of Spring Training. But no, What kind of message and pressure do prospect have with us because they know that there is very little chance for breaking the Yankee lineup. Neal for example is hitting 330 in AAA, but he is a 4A player. I agree with 90 of what you post Vette, but I just don;t see it with Sanchez yet, next year possible, September call up possible but I doubt it.

Gotcha majorball. I am just so sick of this team trying every retread that seems to come available. Every time I hear of someone getting DFA'd - my first reaction is that Cashman is already on the phone with the guy. When I see guys like Almonte, Adams, Mesa, Romine getting shots - I can live with the struggles, because those guys have upside to improve. What I can't stand is seeing Wells, Hafner, Cruz ever getting ABs - they have been pathetic and are just wasting everyone's time.

We agree on both boards more than we disagree. Look for example, I point out Romine, give him the workload for awhile. Let him get his timing. And sending Mesa down just pissed me off. Really what has Wells given us besides class and steady defense in nearly the last three months. Did anybody see the little bat flip that Mesa does before every pitch, ala a mini Mickey Rivers.
