It's not just about the raises. It's about their pension fund, and likely other issues. Easy to cherry pick something that may be,in part, agreeable. They were striking outside their place of work, not at funerals. The injunction did not change that hey will continue to picket the funeral homes. I'm not on either side of this. The workers are entitled to what they can negotiate. No more, no less.
I was in Safeway this morning..and stopped by the in-store Starbucks. While talking with the gal, I asked her if she was a Starbucks employee...she said, no, they are Safeway employees. I then asked her if they were union...she said heavens no! She added, nor, are most of the Safeway store employees. (Interestingly, I used to be a member of Local 1092 Retail Employees. ALL the main grocery stores were unionized). And an added exclamation, nor, do they WANT to be. I left it at that.
A judge saw it differently, and saw them disrupting the clients of a business. If you think it's OK to act like assholes at a child's funeral, or any other matter pertaining to a funeral, that's your issue in terms of taste. I can call the scumbags picketing funerals scumbags, and lump them in with the Westboro scumbags as being scumbags.
Red states are the only states that will be right to work states. You need some therapy for your union hate.
I read the actual court order, did you? Good idea to have the information if you're going around insulting those who know more than you as LIVs.
I'm not really picking up the point of that story in relation to quoted post. But I will say, she probably is a foxnews watching, fire breathing Republican.
Michigan/Florida/Virginia/Indiana are 'red states'? I include Indiana because Obama won it in 2008, but lost it in 2012. Hmm...
Link to the sections of the court order that you think pertain to whatever random argument you're trying to make at this point.
The best part is that Zags has done nothing at all in this thread to try to change that perception that Teamsters are a bunch of selfish douchebags who only care about themselves. LOL
FoxNews!! :MARIS61: LOL Nobody would even know about these douchebags had FoxNews not taken a local story and printed it nationally. Stay stupid, America.
The court order did not stop them from protesting outside the funeral homes. So the judge did not agree, as you claim. Now run along and make up stuff and attribute it to me.
That's not what you posted though, originally. The judge agreed they were disrupting the workplace, which is what I posted. They can stand in the street and hold their stupid signs all the want, but they can't disrupt the official on-site business. HERP DERP.
The best part of this thread are people trying to defend these actions. I've yet to see anybody on this board try to defend the Westboro freaks. All I can think is that some people are union sheep, and won't call out idiots representing them as a professional organization.
Heckling the families of dead people for going into a place you're striking is indefensible, except if you're Zags and Denny. Zags is at least still young, and may understand someday that there is more to life than work and a union.
I'm fairly certain that people feel SlyPokerDog is a huge douchebag. As for your hate of unions, you wouldn't be enjoy your weekends off, vacation pay etc. You and Maxie need some group counseling.
I understand strawman arguments on the Internet seem to be your thing. But you're just being a silly Billy.
Nah, I'm fine with private unions. People have the right to organize if they wish. Public unions are another matter. My position is that they served a vital role in our development from an agricultural to an industrial society, but they have now outlived their usefulness. However, if you don't see that the actions of one union colors yours in many peoples' eyes, then you're living in denial.
