Brain tumor update

This is LITERALLY, and ABSOLUTELY not a thread for best wishes and hang in there's. But most of you know I have this little bug that is being pretty stubborn. Radiation isn't working the way we had hoped, so I will be spending a few days in China soon to try a couple of things. Just giving those of you who are aware of what's going on a heads up...no pun intended.

 

Just don't tell them that Chairman Mao is anything but great.

It stinks that you have to go half way around the world to recieve a desired treatment..big medicine is so intertwined with the gov...USDA often takes ten or twelve years to approve drugs..

But if your "treatment" is just to join the "Hey Jo, Love you long time" club and a factory dirrect pair of Nikes...

 

MM, I know there are several trials that are going on that are showing good results so far. Make sure you ask you Doc to research possible experimental treatments you could volunteer for. Right now, there are a couple small-molecule caspase-3 apoptosis promoters which target only cancerous cells. The small-molecule is important because it can cross the blood-brain barrier which most cancer treatments can't, allowing it to target brain tumors specifically. I am just writing this from memory regarding a talk I went to a month ago, so I may be off a bit, but I think it's something to look into.

This is not my expertise at all, but I do think if you haven't already, tell your doctor to do extensive research about what experimental studies there are. Don't let the Doctor be lazy, it's on you to direct the doctor to do your bidding. Be more loud and abrasive with the Doc than you have with anyone on this site ever. haha.

Good, having competent and aggressive doctors is damn important and sometimes hard to find. I'd be interested to read a link regarding the alternative treatment.

Have they been able to arrest the growth of the tumors at all?
