Look, I love that 77-78 team, but it was a different game in the late-70s vs the mid-90s. I would argue we were the equal of the 72-wins Bulls team on offense, but we would have been suffocated by their defense. That free-flowing Ramsay offense wouldn't have gotten going.

Unless they played in 1978, when Lucas could punch out Jordan. :ghoti:

I thought Bill Laimbeer and Dennis Rodman already tried that before Rodman went to the Bulls?

Talking about Bill Laimbeer. Where does he rank among all time centers?

Not high. I can name, off the top of my head 14 old centers better than he was.

Kareem, Wilt, Robinson, Shaq, Walton, Duncan, Ewing, Daughterty, Russel, Moses Malone, Sampson, Sabas, Hakeem, Eaton

No one said they were "The Greatest Team Ever", it was just postulated by me that they are a team that, as constructed, could have beaten the 1996 Chicago Bulls in a 7 game series. COULD HAVE. I was fortunate to see both teams in person, and they were both cold blooded killer machines.

Sports Illustrated at the time called them "historic". They weren't just beating teams, they were destroying them.

It would be fun to watch.

He didn't injure himself before camp. He had a pre-existing condition, which was addressed with microfracture surgery instead of minor arthroscopic surgery.

Is that a command, or an offer?

WRONG. His MRI at the draft did not show the defect as they were "pristine". A few months later Oden had pain and a new MRI had issues requiring exploratory surgery. I don't know if anybody knows exactly what the injury was but at the time people thought it was dance dance revolution. Seeing as he became such an alcoholic he was probably binge drinking a ton back then so maybe Oden just blacked out one night and woke up with the injury doing god knows what. It was most definitely an acute injury though and not some pre-exisiting condition.

Oden said he first noticed when he was getting up from the couch. I wouldn't be surprised if he had passed out on that couch the night before, and didn't know he was injured until he woke up with it all swollen in the morning.

He became an alcoholic during his second season, not before his first. I remember KP using the word "pristine" to describe the rest of the knee joint as viewed during the surgery. And I read "before camp" to mean "during pre-camp pickup games," so "pre-existing condition" was a poor choice of words. Personally, I think he did it during Summer League, but that's just me...

MF surgery is normally performed on knees that have played hundreds and hundreds of games. Oden played only part of a college season and his Summer league was cut short so he could get his tonsils taken out. I have never ever ever ever heard of a player getting MF surgery after so few games played. Oden is the only player who has gotten MF surgery after not playing any games which is what happened before his 2nd and 3rd mf surgeries. You can believe the Pristine Knee stuff all you want but that doesn't explain why the 2nd and 3rd mf surgeries when he's not even playing.

Repp'd Sly. I posted earlier that Oden felt pain in the knee, got an MRI that showed "cartilage Damage". Then, he got exploratory surgery which showed he needed MF.

Okay, I no longer care about the Bulls. I want Luke on our 1990 team and have him punch out Laimbeer. :ghoti:

Edit: I responded to BC's post before I saw this thread get derailed to Laimbeer. I think he's one guy we'd all like to take a swing at.
