...is this team capable of hanging in a game against anyone after the 3rd inning? This team seems to assume the position pretty early, and spends the next 3 hours taking it high and hard. Some of them may actually like it.
With these last performances by CC, Hughes, and Andy. It won't be long before the bullpen crashes under the workload.
Andy has nothing, he always gives up a crooked number in the first inning putting a nail in the coffin, and this offense just shuts down after that, whatever success he's had this year has been smoke and mirrors IMO, he has like 140 H in 120 IP, and a .300 BAA, terrible, they need to consider asking Andy to step down and call it a career, a fake injury will do.
With all the good days Pettitte had had you'd like to see him go out in the same manner as Mo. If the Yankees can shed A-rod the next two albatrosses to go should be CC and Tex. That will probably be like selling used cars and waiting for a sucker. As for Hughes he's already applied the rope to his neck can't see anybody wanting to pay him big bucks to give up big flies.
3/5 of the rotation is noncom-pettitte-ive. See what I did there! It really is a joke. These games are over before the team even gets a chance. And to think the last thing I had questions about coming into the season was the rotation.
What happens next year? Who are we going to be relying on for next year. Kuroda is a FA. Hopefully he resigns. Nova is back. CC is gonna turn into our 5th starter.
This is what I see happening... I would not expect Kuroda to resign... Pettitte will retire, Hughes will sign elsewhere leaving us with Nova and CC...
Why do you think Kuroda will be else where? He has pitched brilliantly this year for the Yankees. And they surely want him to come back. I hope they bring him back on a 1 or 2 year deal. We are going to be in huge need of starting pitching.
yes he is... but he is 38 now... I heard rumors that he was looking to either retire or head back to Japan... I'll try to see if I can dig them up, but that is what I heard...
Damn that sucks! The Yankees then should over him a little bit more for 1 year. Even if he drops off a bit he will be better than CC, Andy, and Hughes. And we aren't locked into him for too much longer then. Don't we have the young player from the M's coming soon too?
ok... here are some links... Most of which are from last off season just after he had resigned talking about how it was a possibility of either going back to LA or Japan http://bronxbaseballdaily.com/2012/11/yankees-re-sign-hiroki-kuroda-to-a-1-year-15-million-deal/ in it, the article states "Then there were the rumors that he might want to go back to Japan. Or perhaps he wanted to move back to Los Angeles where he has two daughters in school. In the end it all seemed like a way for Kuroda to gain leverage with the Yankees..." also http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130219&content_id=41789406&vkey=news_nyy&c_id=nyy which in it said "There were reports that Kuroda was considering returning to Japan, but the pitcher seemed to be amused by the suggestion and said that Japanese teams were not among the choices he was considering." and again http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20121120&content_id=40384564&vkey=news_nyy&c_id=nyy where it said "Though Kuroda recently rejected the Yankees' one-year, $13 million qualifying offer, it was widely assumed that he was still interested in a one-year deal. He was also reportedly considering a return to Los Angeles, where he played from 2008-11 with the Dodgers, or Japan, where he broke into professional baseball with the Hiroshima Carp in 1997." ok... so that is 3 articles basically saying the same thing that he was considering retirement or LA last off-season... fast forward 1 year and I don't see the Yankees being a more appealing team... so I think he either hangs them up OR signs with LA again... I hope I'm wrong though
Damn I really hope you are wrong. I can see why he wouldn't want to sign with the Yankees again even if they are throwing more money his way. The Dodgers right now look like the team to beat this season in the NL. And you gotta know they are going after some beast FA's next year to win it all. And adding Kuroda to that rotation would be sick! I hope he stays though!
yeah... like I said, I hope I'm wrong too... if we just have Nova and CC accounted for with no one else, its going to be a long year... even if we have tons of cash to spend...
Don't forget Phelpsy and Pineda (would he be Mikey?). Scary future the Yanks rotation. Not a terrible crop of impending free agents, though no real ace in the crowd, unless you're signing 38+ year olds in Carpenter or Halladay. Let's cross our fingers and hope that CC is just feeling the lingering weakness of being less that a year off surgery and continues to gain some strength. His offseason routine should consist of a lot of eating because this slimmer CC is not getting it done.
Pineda may never see the Majors with the Yankees... see Pavano.... and Phelps, I did forget about him... but I don't know if we should be looking at him as a long term starter...
