Agreed although I think he had a great season with GS because of all the other great shooters surrounding him - just like PDX had now!
How many players have the Jazz lost for nothing in the last 14 months? Last summer, they lost both Boozer and Korver, without getting anything in return. This summer, it's Jefferson, Millsap and Williams. Fuck, that's a halfway decent starting 5 right there - all gone, without getting a single player in return. I'd hate to be a Jazz fan these days... P.S. The players they lost could easily beat the players they kept. BNM
The other thing about Mo Williams and what the team is trying to do this season: He has been in 41 playoff games, been in a game 7's and is a guy who has taken and made big shots in those games. Stotts must be excited that he will have options this season.
Yeah, I think your right. Make that 26 months, not 14... Sure am glad I'm a Blazers fan and not a Jazz fan. The Blazers are stockpiling cheap talent and the Jazz are giving it away for free. BNM
Right, forgot about that one year he played monster minutes and played reasonably well. But, I think he is better coming off the bench. That will be his role on this team.
Don't know much about Williams but I am glad to hear this. I have expressed a lot of concerned about Watson being the back up PG for awhile now. I agree with others that say let CJ develop at his natural position of SG. Maybe even play a little with CJ at PG . . . but at least now they aren't relying so much on him or Watson to hold down the fort while Lillard rests. Between Mo, CJ and Earl . . . Lillard should get some needed rest each game while the Blazers don't blow up on the court.
Another thought: Because we got Williams for such a cheap price (and it was the most the team could pay him at this point), I wouldn't doubt that to sweeten the deal, Neil promised Mo that he would not trade him. I wouldn't include him in fantasy trades.
We are all clearly missing the true meaning behind this. Mo Williams + King James best friends in CLE. King James potentially free agent this year. LeBron has said Oregon is like his "other" home. Loves playing at the RG, loves Duck football, and Nike is located here. LEBRON '15
I had Mo Williams on my fantasy team last year so I actually watched him (or should I say, his stas!), very closely last year. He had a great year until he got hurt. Very productive, better than expected, and solid stats across the board.
Plus, since Aldridge wants out, we have an asset to send to Miami in a S&T deal. I think we have a winner. Aldridge/Batum to Miami for Lebron. Put in on the board--Hushmazilly, CHAMPIONSHIP!
I think this was a move that was made because Neil saw two things in SL: 1) CJ is not a point guard. 2) Crabbe and Barton are not even close to being ready to contribute on a nightly basis. This could signal a coming trade, but I think it's more likely that Harris gets dumped and we go into training camp with this roster. I think CJ ends up as the backup shooting guard and depending on how he plays he could very well end up starting before the end of the year. I love this pickup though. Neil is easily the best GM we've had since Trader Bob, and it's possible he's better than Bob. We shall see.
My favorite part of this deal: Now when Mo Williams randomly drops 40 points, it wont be on us. It will be for us.
