I don't think both Mo and Lillard will be on the floor at the same time for long stretches, IMO. Maybe like 5 minutes per game. Just enough to use when we want to dominate with Aldridge on the low block. Give him as many shooters as possible.
Well, the Blazers got Williams more than the minimum if the early report is true of 2 year $5.6mil deal. A minimum contract for Williams if he had signed with Miami (for example) would have been $1.4 mil /year. http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/info
Wow. Didn't even think we were looking for more additions. And certainly didn't think we'd land someone like Mo Williams. I think, (un)fortunately, this cements us as a team that should make the Playoffs. I think Mo will be what we had hoped Crawford was suppose to be. Neil should certainly be in the running for GM of the Year. He had next to nothing to work with and somehow built not just a viable bench, but what appears to be a pretty good bench...possibly better than some teams starting units.
Uhhhhh.......No. Let's not get carried away here. Our bench is much improved. How could it not be? It might even be average this season. It is not better than starting units. A rookie is the SG. And Robinson and Leonard are coming off of bad season's.
The big man rotation we had with that team was deadly. Is there any other C on the market we can get for the min (by waiving Joel to create room)?
Mo Williams is a sixth man of the year contender. I think our bench is at least average. Dorell wright is great off the bench too. The contributions McCollum, Leonard and trob give us are what can push our bench from average to among the league best.
That could work. But I think I like Joel more than Hamed, and there is no way he would take minutes away from Myers unfortunately. So is this our rotation now? Dame/ Mo/ Earl Wes/ CJ/ Crabbe Nic/ Wright/ Barton LA/ TRob/ Claver Lopez/ Leonard/ Freeland Man, we need TRob to step up to give us a third good decent bigman, cuz that C rotation looks weak in comparison to our wing/guard rotation.
Perhaps I have gotten carried away, but only because I'm not up on what other teams have done this summer. However, I have the impression that some teams don't have viable starting units which leads me to think that perhaps Mo, CJ, Wright, Robinson, Weak Link might be better than whatever BOS, SAC, or PHX are going to trot out. But I suppose I should take a look at those rosters before making such a claim. I will admit that I'm pretty stoked on Robinson - I think he was the steal of the summer. But you're right in that he (along with CJ) hasn't proven anything yet.
Scoring wise I see no reason that we shouldnt have an above average bench now. http://www.hoopsstats.com/basketball/fantasy/nba/teamstats/13/7/pts/1-1
Yeah Robinson is sooooooo last month. Williams is the new Robinson. Its getting more and more fun to be a Blazers fan again.
Barring any further moves or significant injures to our front court, I am now firmly in the "we will make the playoffs" group. Better than that, Olshey has stocked the cupboards with assets without giving much up. Here's to hopin he can perhaps package some players for one player of higher-caliber. He's done what he's done so far with very little, so I'm thinking he eventually will make such a move.
